Merton Publications Ltd. , pub-
lishers of Scope Magazine, Can-
ada's national camping and re-
creational vehicle magazine have
released a totally new campground
guide, for 1974.,
The. new Scope/ Wheelers Cana&
ian Campground Guide lists camp-
grounds coast to coast in Canada
in a convenient and very practic-
al forin. Private and government
parks are listed geographically by
provinces in the 110 page book
published in magazine format.
Maps at the beginning Of each
province indicate locator cities
under which all campgrounds
within a specific radius are listed.
The camper simply looks this
locator city up in the provincial
lists and is then able to locate all
campgrounds in that area. An
alphabetical listing also allows
campers to quickly, locate camp=
grounds by name.
The new listing system used this
'year for the first, time, is a result
of a reader survey done by Scope ;
Canada's national camping maga-
zine. Readers indicated the de-

Campgrounds are listed 'under
the locator cities with privately-
owned parks in bold face .type.
Government-owned parks Are list-
ed in light face type with indica-
tions as to their classification AS a
provincial park, national, park,
conservation park or municipally-
owned park. All campgrounds are
classified as one of three types: a
campground (catering to tents and
all types of rec vehicles); recrea-
tional vehicle park (which
basitally caters to travel trailers,
campers and motor hoines); or
overnight spaces in a mobile home
park that simply provide overnight
accommodation to travellers.
Each listing contains the direc7
tions to the campground from the
locator city (ie: 3 miles east of
town on Hwy. 11, then 1/2 mile
south on sideroad 7); the number
of sites; number of sites with elec-
trical hookup, water hookup and
sewer hookups; a complete list of
facilities at the campground such
as picnic tables, flush toilets,
store, playground etc; 'the
season the campground is open (ie:
May 1st to October 31st) and for
private campgrounds, the comp-
lete mailing address (provided
so that campers may write for ad-
vance reservations).
The' campground guide is the re•
sult of -information supplied by the
campgrounds and by personal in-
spections of the publisher's repres-
entatives.. No charge is made •to
the campground for basic listings."
The guide is available for sale
at The Lucknow Sentinel for
