were out twice in successive
days last week'. On Friday noon;
a grass fire behind the James
Beaton home on Stauffer. Street
was quickly 'brought under con-
trol. On Saturday morning the
-department extinguished a brush
fire that seriously threatened a -.
bush nearby: This was at the
farm of John Weigand on High-
way 21, between Arriberley and.

Young Peoples gathered at the
manse in Whitechurch Saturday
evening for the regular meeting.
Both groups presented Mr. and
Mrs. Murdock with farewell gifts.
Sunday was the farewell service
for Mr. Murdock at Langside Pres-
byterian,Church. After the ser- •
vice mr, and Mrs. Murdock were
Feiented with a fareWell gift.

Club Officers For
Next Season
Mothers of the Lucknow Skating
Club members met in the Town
Hall, Tuesday, April 16,
Activities for the following year
were discussed, Olive Lapp of
Wingharn, who taught the club
this year, will' do so again in the
1974-75 season. It is hoped there
will be one more hour of ice
time available, a 'total of 6 hours
a week. Registration will be'in
October With the fees not yet dec-
ided. Lessons will be /ylonday and
Thursday.
To raise money the club plans
to hold a Bake Sale in November
and a draw arourid•Christrnas
time.
The club was asked to enter a
float in the Old Boys Reunion par-
ade. Mrs. Morgan Johnston of
Ripley was appointed to head a
Committee of her choosing to
plan for .the float.
Thank you notes were received
from 'the Wingham skaters who per-
formed 'at the Achievement night ,
for gifts they received.
It was decided to pay mileage,
150 a mile one way, to those.
attending meetings.
