Stewart, Minister of • Agriculture and other ministers. The'Ontario Government was urged" to 'support a request Made by the N.F.U. to the Federal. Minist- er of Agriculture to convene a con- ference with the Provincial Minis- ters of Agticulture and interested groups for the purpose of arriving at adquate levels of price Support and stabili2e livestock, poultry and dairy producers against continued excessive losses. Also requested was support for the reinstatement of the Canadian Wheat Board as the sole marketing agendy for all grain marketed dom• mercially, and that responsibility of the Wheat Board be transferred to the Department of Agriculture. The Wheat Board is now under Hon. Otto Lang Minister of Just- ice. There was harsh criticism of alleged dishonest, deceitful tactics used in exprop- riating land froM farmers, Ontario Hydro being a prime example. Frequently prime' agricultural land is' expropriated when poorer land is available. Mr. Miller, expressed the con- cern of the: N.F.P. over the un- checked trend of large internation• al dairy porporations gaining monopoly control in the dairy processing industry. This situa don is not good for farmers or consumers.. A National Marketing Agency is needed for dairy prod- ucts. The N.F.U. agreed with a committee recommendation-that a Farm Index be established which would give accurate information of the number of practicing farm- ers in Ontario, and provide in-. sight into the degree, of land specu- lation which exists.
