SPRAYER CALIBRATION
BOTTLES
A ,lot of poor herbicide applica-
tions are, caused- by sprayers not
being calibrated and the nozzles
on 'a boom not delivering equal
amounts.
A very simple tool is now 'a-
vailable to check both calibra-
tion and nozzle delivery. It is a
plastid bottle with a hanger that
shows gallons per acre when you
drive 150 feet with the sprayer.
'These bottles are available at
our office. Cost is $1.00 each.

EROSION .
Spring rains have caused more
erosion than usual this! S7ear.
Lack of snow cover and Ohe--Soil
surface not being frozen were.-
the two main reasons fv extra
erosion this year.
Narrow areas where erosion
has occurred should be seeded to
Timothy or Orchard Grass and
not plowed again. These are call-
ed grass waterways and are the
only means, of preventing erosion
gullies in sloping fields.
Leaving crop residue on the
surface over winter also helps
prevent erosion. As the acreage
of corn increases, erosion control
will have to improve in • the '
county.
