Gravel Contract
Huron Township Council held
the regular meeting .on April 1st
with all members present. Min-
utes of last meeting Were read and
confirmed. The property owners
on Concession 2 West of Highway
#21 were invited to attend
and discuss road widening.. All
agreed to moving fences back 12 ,
feet which is township 'policy be-
fore re-constructing.
A Petition for Drainage was
received and accepted from Mor-
ley Scott and .others on Concession
12 and H. M. Gibson & Co. was
appointed to make a report.
Gravel contracts were awarded
to the fdllowing with 1972 figures
in brackets; Pit Run gravel - Joe
Kerr Construction of Wingham at
first mile 31¢ (250), each addi- •
tional mile 8¢ (60). Crushed gray.

Three By-laws were approved
by the Ministry of Transportation

received from A. M. Harper., C.
A. showing a surplus for 1973. of
$59.850. ThiS surplus was caused
by including payments towards
a new fire hall in Ripley and
help towards a Medical Centre in
Ripley and these payments are not
paid until construction is done on
them.
Township accounts of $12,946.
51 and Road accounts of $12,410.
83 were ordered paid.

held on 'Monday, April 15th. at

Huron Federation
Will Oppose
New Power Plants
The Huron County Federation
of Agriculture decided at it's
regular meeting held in the Kings-
bridge School, to oppose the
construction of power-plants any-
where in Huron County. 'In a
unanimous decision, the
meeting found 'that this kind of
construction is ,too damaging to
farmland and social life.
Concern was also expressed
about cable 'TV and the effect
this can have on. local TV pro-
graming: leaving the rural corn-
rnu,nity possibly with a much de.:
creased service or no service at '
all. It was decided to'
investigate thiS more fully before
taking any' action.
John gaunt, who won a NUffield
scholarship in 1973, shoWed slides
from his 6.-month long stay in the
United Kingdom. It showed to
everyone low many breeds of
cattle originated in Seotland. Mr.
Gaunt' explained that the seholar-
ship will be discontinued in the
next two years and the countries
involved are expected.to take

George Underwood of Wingham
explained that the' Bruce-Huron
Hydro Negotiating Committee is
still actively involved in trying to
change the routing of the proposed
lines through less productive land.
There is still a ray of hope, left
that something will be done.
Bill Crawford, the fieldman,
reported that up until now , about
2200 farmers have joined the Hur-
on Federation as Individual Ser-
vice members.. He said that the
goal now is to have 2400 mem-
bers by the time the spring work
gets 'underway.
The presidents df the Federa-
tion presented a brief to the dev-
elopment committee of the
county, mainly concerning land
use. ,

several boys sang two lovely
numbers. Sacrament of Holy
Communion was observed and Rev.
C. McClenaghan's sermon was
entitled "In Purity of Heart".
Mrs, W. A. Stewart is spending
Harvey and Joe Sproul, accom-
panied by AllauPetrie of Goder-
ich , returned home on Thursday
from BrOwnsville, Texas-, where
they had enjoyed the winter
months. When motoring through
the States they witnessed much
devastation caused by the torna-

Sympathy is expressed to Mr.
and Mrs. Wallace Wilson and
other relatives of 24 year old Paul
Tiffin of Wingham, whose tragic
death occurred in Mexico last
