On Saturday morning around
nine, 'everyone was iii a 'hustle
on the mainstreet .by Elnier Court-
ney's Feed 'Store as the Ripley Juv-
enile Hockey team loaded into
five cars for their long trip to Port
Carling - about 200 miles with
cold rain falling and sleet
threatening. Men taking their
cars were Elmer Courtney, How-
: ard, Harrison, Kenny MacDonald,
Aurel Armstrong and Jack .Elliott.
Down in the High School the ping
pong tournament for Bruce County
was on so some hockey players
were not able to go: Doug Couil

Back home in Ripley there was
' a gdod attendance and participa-
tion in the annual carnival in the
Ripley arena. This is sponsored
by the Ripley and District Lions,
Club. On Saturday .it 'was a busy
time at the Ripley Curling, Arena
as they held their bonspiel - the ,
final one for the current season
and for the Clark Ferguson trophy.

Once again it was a busy week
end in the, Ripley-Huron area with
many activities taking place.
Down in the Ripley Diamond Jubi-
lee arena on Friday it was Ripley
Midgets winning their first playoff
game in the series with Monkton
8 to 4. In the Hyron Township
hall, a capacity crowd was well
pleased with. the Lucknow Agricul-
tural SoCiety's presentation of
their current three act play "Every-
' body's Crazy". The Ripley aud-
ience enjoyed it.
Still another collision happened
on the main intersection, or "bank
corner" in Ripley. This occurred
early 'Friday evening as Donald '
Gillies and Cameron Cook were in
collision. Donald was taking his
mother Mrs. Frances Gillies and
Mrs. Minnie Wyld to attend the,
concert in the Huron Township
hall while it is reported that Cam-
eron was coming from the rink.,
Word was received by Mrs.
Marie '(Orah) Crawford of the pass-
ing of her sister Katherine, Mrs.°
Wm. D. MacLeod. The former
Katherine Murray, Mrs. MacLeod,
passed away last Thursday in Sault
Ste.. Marie. The funeral service
was held there on' Saturday. Her
late husband, Dr. Bill MacLeod,
was for many years •the dentist in
Ripley - a native of Lochalsh. His
sister, Miss Margaret MacLeod,
retired teacher, resides at the
family farm. The sympathy of
the Ripley area 'folks are extended.

Cathy McGee from Goderich
spent the week end with Mr. and
Mrs. Art McMichael and family.
Miss 'Beatrice McClenaghan,
from Newmarket, Home Econom-
ist in that area , was home for ,the
week end with Rev. and Mrs. Clar-
ence Mcclenaghan and Eldon.,
Eldon McClenaghan has,returned
to Winterinere for ,the ,summer
monthi, where he will be employ-
ed.
Mrs. Bob Eedy, who had the
misfortune to, fall in, her home in
Mississauga and sprain her left
ankle, is spending a few days with .
Mr. ariti Mrs. Irvine Eedy. They
are assisting to care 'for the seven-
month-old twin girls , Megan and
Jennifer.
Mr. and Mrs. David Dawson
are enjoying a brief holiday at
Reno , Nevada; Lake Tahoe,
Grand 'Canyon, as well as a three
day Pump School which Dave is
attending at Tahoe.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Eedy were
among the group Of curlers from
Goderich who flew to Chilliwack,
B.C. for the Foresters' Curling
playoffs. e;
March 31, 193'1 will be recall-
ed by many as the date of Dun-
gannon's big fire. •
Mrs. George 'Errington And
daughter , Betty, visited during
the holiday week with the
former's sister, Mrs. Bob (Donna)
Morgan, Mr. Morgan, and baby
Norma, at Kerwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy McCreight
of Listowel visited recently with
their daughter, Mrs. Harold El-
liott, Mr. Elliott and, children,
Helen and Donald.,

this time Jim and his wife Lenore

and Mrs.. John Coiling now live.

Break touring, the London area in
England. - They, flew -from. Toronto
and, landed at Gatwick Airport in ,
London. In the group were Mrs.
Raymond Leddy of Lucknow; Mr.
and, Mrs. Wib Emrnerton of Kin-
cardine, Mrs. Alphonse Schmidt
of Mildmay, Jerome and' Helen
Schmidt of Carrick Township.,
Glenn and Doreen Young of Kin-
loss , Katherine and Burton Collins
of Huron Township. The party
toured London, Windior , -Flamp-
ton Court, Stratford-om-AVon, Ox-
ford and Stonehenge. Unfortnate-
ly Jerome Schmidt was'taken sud-
denly ill and at the time_of writ-
ing is a patient in hospital in Lon-
don, England. Staying with him
is his wife Helen and her brother
Burton Collins. Jerome is a broth-

On' Friday Elliott Courtney, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Courtney,'
arrived home from Israel where he
has been for the past few months.
Last fall John D. Coiling and
Courtney went on an Europ-
ean tour taking them from Britain
across to Greece. Later John . D.
then went 'to Spain and now has
been back to Canada a few weeks
while Elliott went on to Israel.
John D. is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Allan Coiling, east of Ripley.,
