LE VOYAGE A QUEBEC - Intended
for last week.
On Thursday, February 7, six
students bid farewell to the rest of
the school and started off for Tor-
onto to catch the train leaving for
Le Carnival de Quebec. Arlene
Tranter, Patti MacDonald, Mary
Coiling, Joan Courtney, Connie
Pollock and Janice Reeves were
the six girls whO went to represent
good old Ripley High! .After a
long night on the train we got
our first look at the city. When
we arrived at our motel . we at
down to a .continental breakfast.
It wasn't until eight o'clock that
night that we were given our
rooms, so between two in the
afternoon and eight o'clock that
night we were without rooms.
During this time we went down
one B.I.A. championship ir1
volleyball, and now, runner -up
in basketball in one year who's
complaining. Well done, team.
WINTER BREAK
Both the students and staff are
indeed looking forward to the
winter vacation during the next
week. With some of the students
and teachers leaving for warm,
sunny areas, the remaining folks
can look forward to a full week
of peace and quiet. Just a remind.
er that the Wind-Up Bonspiel will
take place on Friday, March 22nd
at the Ripley Curling Rink.

into the heart of Quebec and spent
the time looking. through the ,
stores. We went to the gourmet •
dinner at the Chez Guido on Fri-
day evening. Later a performance
was put on for us by a folk sing-
ing group back at our motel. The
next, morning we went on a--tour of
the city seeing such things as the
Plains of Abraham and the LaVal
University. The afternoon was
lefrto unto do what we wanted.
We decided 'to go right down'into"
lower Quebec. We then went .
back to Upper Quebec to start into
the Carnival festivities .with the
rest.of the city,.. Everyone was
enjoying herself including the
police who were dancing up'and
down the streets.
Soon the parade started and the
French snowman, Bon Hortme
started it all'off. The parade
was particularly good this year
because this was its twentieth
anniversary. The next day we
packed and had a swim in the
pool. The afternoon .was left up
to us again. We went to the
Chateau .Frontenac and took a
horse ride through•the streets of
the city. We then arrived back
at the hotel to_get ready to leave
for the train. We all boarded
special buses to take us to the
train station. For scirrie strange
reason 'no names mentioned Patti,
Ripley got' on the wrong bus. 'One
hour later off schedule on the
tight bus we arrived at the station.
After another long night•on the
train we arrived back at Union
Station in Toronto and ready for.
the ridehome!
