On December. 10th Whitechurch
Wornen's Institute held their meet-
with an attendance of 31. The

After the banquet the meeting
was held. The president Miss
Merle Wilson welcomed all pres-

draws were made for 1974.
The meeting opened with the
Institute. Ode and the repeating 'of
the Collect: Miss Merle Wilson
gave a poem Christmas One. The

Mrs: Johnston Conn, Mrs. Russel
Ross and Mrs. Jim Currie,
hospital patients, for cards and
gifts sent. Mrs. Archie Purdon

Mrs. Jas. McInnes told how the
Scotch celebrated Christmas in
the bygone years,. At New Years
the houses are all cleaned even to
the fireplace. At 12 o'clock mid-
.night/the band played, It' was
hoped the' first person to cross your
doorstep would always have dark
hair. Those coming,left little
gifts. Mrs.. Russel McGuire then,
sang two Christmas hymns.

al passing of their son Bruce at

A Tupperware Party was held on
Wednesday evening at the home
of Mrs. Alex Craig with Mrs.
Duncan as demonstrator. A few

Society held their meeting Sun-
day evening at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. George Thompson. °
The president Jim de Boer presid-
ed. Cecil de Boer read the min-
utes. Barry Elliott read the scrip-
ture and gave the 'topic - Differ -
ent Races. Bob Rossiled in prayer.

carols were sung with Mrs. Lloyd
Murdock pianist. The meeting'

On December 23 in the morning
service at Chalmers Church the
Sunday School and Y.P.S . and
any interested adults are.to bring
a Christmas gift marked for child
or adult, male or ferriale. These
gifts will be presented at the morn-
ing service. Saturday evening , •
pecember '23 at 8.30 Chalmers
Church will be decolated for the
Candlelight' service by both young
Peoples Societies. On Monday ,
evening, December 24 at 8.30
the Y.P.S. meet at the manse to
go carolling.
