son opened the meeting with a
prayer "Thanksgiving on a Sum
mer's Day". ',Fifteen ladies were •
present and. the roll call was
answered by a current event.
Mrs. Ken Cameron gave the
financial report and each com-
mittee was called on for a report.

Mrs. Orville Elliott was in
charge of the devotional part of
the 'meeting. Mrs. Gordon. Maize
read the scripture and followed

Mrs. Stuart Collyer introduced

Ghosh, a native of Calcutta,
India , who lived for a time here
in Lucknow but now reside's in.
Wingham. Mrs, Ghosh gave a
very interesting talk on India
and answered many questions
about her country.
The hymn "What a Friend we
have in Jesus"' was sung. Mrs..
Elliott thanked the speaker , the
hottess and those taking 'part in
the Programme. We were remind•
ed that October is blanket month
and the October meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Harvey
Webster.
The closing hymn was, "This
is Our Father's WOrld" followed
by the Mizpah benediction.
A delicious lunch was served
by the committee.in charge.

was held in honor of Mr. and Mrs.
Montgomery (nee Sharon Jamie-
son) newly weds in Whitechurch
Community Memorial Hall. Tif-
fins .Orchestra supplied the music
for thereeeption.
A large crowd gathered to do
honor to the newlyweds, who at
lunchtime were called to the front
while George Webster read an ad-
dress and Norman McDonald pres-
ented them with a gift of money."

• Another swimming hole was'
annOUnced as barred to the youth
of the village, who were "forbid-
den to swim at the. Carding Mill".
This step was taken by the Board
of Health, as the river was low and
the water badly polluted from var.,
ious sources along the course of
the stream. Swimming at the
12th concession earner had been
banned earlier for the same rea-
son., .
The pool adjoining the old Wat-
erworks pumphouse had been sug-
gested as ,One that -could , with
little expense, be made into a
suitable bathing pool, but was not
recommended by the Medical
.office of Health.
The Sentinel read "The. ideal
solution to this local problem
would be the building of a pool
supplies with water from the dom-
estic water system".
The Lucknow Public• School
reopened. with the staff unchanged
from previous year namely Miss
