now coming in Huron. County,
and already here in Bruce, the
cries will be. louder from beach
residents who have been neglect-
ed in many areas for far too long.
The. Complaints.w.ill be .fair
ones. "If you are going to tax
us to the litnit, corresponding
services will be expected". Right
now the services aie'next to nil •
in some areas.
The feeling of cottagers' is this:
If they must pay school tax to two
municipalities ,.county taxes to
two counties and municipal tax
to two municipalities, then the
plea is a simple one. Give ser
vices for taxes paid;on an equal
basis with any other tax payer in
the municipality.
For, many years now , and in -
increasing numbers from year to
year, the municipalities with
Lake Huron frontage have been
enjoying the tax revenue benefits
of having seasonal residents in
their. municipality.
There was a time when these
seasonal residents were paying
next to nothing in taxes, and as
such, were accepting their,small
taxation without any services.
But, year by yeat, as taxes in-
creased On these beach and seas-
onal• properties, the discontent -
has been growing and the rumb-
lings, are to be heard more and •
more every year.
