Ross; Mrs. J. A. Crispin, Miss Helen Hamilton and Miss Marion Mc - •Dougall and with an average en- rolment of 125 pupil's. The High. School did not re -' open until 'September 20th with 'the following staff: Miss . F. E. McLean as Principal; D. R. Mc- lean of Newmarket, Miss Dorothy Sharp of New Liskeard and Miss Jean Osborne of Ripley. All but 3 Miss•McLean came as new mem-. bers succeeding N. S. Calvert, Miss Ruth Mathews and Miss Isa- bel Kalbfleiich. • • • • opened with three teachers in' charge of the Continuation work. Miss F. E. MacLean was again 'principal' and had as assistants in the high school work Malcolm \Armstrong and Miss Gertrude Fowler. The Public School:was in , charge of Miss Kate MacDonald, Miss Joanne MacCallum, Miss Norma Thornpson and Miss Isobel Murdie. Other teachers in.the area were; 'at St. Helens School, Miss Bessie Murdie of Lucknow as principal and Miss Jessie Buckingham in charge of the junior room; at S. S. Restaurant 4 Lucknow. • Furniture Stolen From Zion Homes ZION NEWS Two empty houses in the corn- thunity belonging to Allan and. Harvey Ritchie were broken into in broad daylight during last week,- where furniture was stolen. Police are investigating. CALIFORNIA TRIP Wanda Hunter returned toSt. Catharines at the week end to resume her teaching duties 'after the summer break. Wanda spent most of the Summer at her home here and enjoyed a 16 .day visit to• California in August. Mrs. Isobel Hawkwood of Coch- .rane, Alberta is visiting relatives and friends in Zion Community this week. Mrs. Henry Gardner and Lane had a cousin Mrs. Irene Beleya, Faye and Terry of Oakville the first of last week. On Friday of last week, the Gardners received word of the passing of their cousin, Mrs. Mable Hinton.of Oakville. The funeral is Tuesday of this week. Mrs.. Beleya is a daughter of Mrs. Hinton. 'Kenny Ritchie spent a few' clays last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pennington and family of Wingham district. School re-opened Tuesday where pupils attended Brookside, North Ashfield and F. E. Madill Schools, . Sympathy is extended .to the Hunter family of the passing of • Mrs. Lloyd Hunter the, past week. and Mrs.. Harvey Ritchie and family had her cousini, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Fleming of Bervie and Jim Drehman of California on Wednesday evening of last week. 10 YEARS AGO SEPTEMBER 1963 The new South Kinloss Memor- ial Chapel and Mausoleum was dedicated' at a special ceremony on September 1st; with focal and visiting clergymen officiating.
