in the Junior Conservationist:
Award Program, working in the
Lucknow Area , studying in detail
the Lucknow River and its .water-
shed . The group, led by Marc

DR. FRASER ASHTON
Fraser Asfadn was recently
granted a Doctor of Philosophy
degree from the, University of
Manitoba:
Fraser is the son of Lloyd Ash-
ton of LuCknow and the late'lanet
Ashton. 'He attended Lucknow
District High School and later the
University- of Guelph ,where
received a degree in' Microbiol-
ogy' in 1965.
He was employed' in Ottawa-for,
two years by the Department of
National Health and Welfare and
in 1967 returned to university to
study towards his Master's Degree
at ifie-'-iiiiiVersity of Manitoba in
Winnipeg.
Receiving his Maiters in 1969,
he continued studying towards
,his Doctor of Philosophy in Bio-
chemistry which he received this
year.
Dr. Ashton, is employed in
Ottawa by the Department of
National Health and Welfare in
the Laboratory Centre for Disease
Control.
In .1966 he married Catherine
Roulliard of Quebec City and
with their two children, Antoine
and Stefanie, they reside in Luc-
erne , Quebec.
They are left' to right, Mrs. Jim
(Mary) McNairn, Seaforth, who
graduated in 1963; Mrs. Doug
(Helen) Moore, Ripley , 1965; Mrs.
Warten (Evelyn)' Rich, Wingham ,
Mr. and Mrs. John Coiling were
married on July 4., 1923 at Credit-
on by their brother-in-law Rev. "
Duncan MacTavish. fic/r these
past fifty years they resided on
Concession 4 at the corner of the'
15th in Huron ToWnship. Mrs.
Coiling was formerly Violet Smith
who came from England.
Mr. and Mrs. Coiling have
three sons, Clark of Detroit and
Allan and Carrick of Huron Town-
ship. .

Full Day Of
Ball Activity
Sunday, at the local ball park,
was a' wind-up day for the summer
holiday period and the recreation
committees of LuCknow , Kinloss
West Wawanosh and- Ashfield stag-
ed a full 'day of softball activity
whiCh ended in early evening.
Ice cream, soft drinks, ham-
burgers and hot dogs were avail-
able as well as a full day of soft-
ball and swimming at the local
pool. The roller skating facilities
at the arena were also available,
but the hot, humid weather made
the pool much more attractive.

On July 8 '!Open House" was
held at their fatim home where
they received rliany kind congrat-
ulatory Messages. Mr'. and Mrs. -
Coiling are now residing in Ripley.

Mr. and Mrs. Bruco. Will of R.
R. 3 Clairemont recently purchas-
ed the. "Stone House" property and
200 acres 'of land. from George
Joynt of Lucknow. The property•is
east of St. Helens in West. Wawa-
nosh Township, and .had been in
the Joynt, family for many years.
Mr. Will is a history teacher in
North York and their farm proper-
ty near Clairemont has been ex-
propriated for the new Toronto
Airport. He eventually hopes to
follow the teaching profession in
this area .
Walter David Scott of Ashfield
formerly of Langside , died on Sun-
day at the age of 71. He resided
on highway 86, west of Lucknow,
near Paramount.
The funeral service will be held
at the MacKenzie Memorial
Chapel in Lucknow
on Wednesday at 2 p.M.. Burial
will be. at. Tiffin's Cemetery,
Langside. ,
A Legion Service was held on
Tuesday night at the funeral home.
