Association. The new nursing ,
home brings into actuality all
:heir concepts of excellent patient
care., and its opening will repres-
ent just another step in the •
gradual phasing out of older ,
inadequate nursing facilities tak-
ing place thrOughout-Ontario.
The new nursing home, design-
ed In consultation with the" arch-
itect, Mr. V. I. Heinrichs of
Toronto,. a specialist in the nurs-
ing home field, has been design-
ed "for the Care, comfort and well-
being of 60 residents, using the
most modern and. up-to-date con-
cepts of patient care and built'
to the very rigid standards of the
National Building Code for this
type of public building. It .will
include a large . attractive dining
room and living rOOM 2 smaller
lounges.- 1.for each wing of the
home, activities and craftsrooms,
a barber and beauty salon, a tuck
shop where patients' 'handicrafts
may also, be displayed and pur-
chased by the public, a' very ,
large and modern kitchen where
every type of diet and menu may
be prepared, and home-like •
meals will: be served to the resid-
ents in the very attractive dining
room or in their rooms if this be-
comes necessary.
Pinecrest Manor has also been
designed as an all-electric build-.
ing , completely pollution• free.
Temperatures in each room are
individually therrnosttically
controlled •for maximum patient
comfort.. The large efficient
'laundry• rooms, equipped with the
latest and most efficient laundry
equipment , will ensure ,maximum
care and cleanliness, of the
laundry of the home as well as the
personal laundry of the residents. •
Pineciest Manor has been design-
ed and furnished for a more home-
like atmosphere with a minimum'
number of 4-bed rooms, the , maj-
ority of residents', rooms being
either 2-bed or 1-bed •accommoda -
don with private or shared bath-
rooms which have all been design-
' ed for the wheelchair patient also.
The nursing home is built on one
floor only , steps and ramps hav-
ing been' eliminated in the design
and every consideration for the
patient has been incorporated
into the building. As a further aid,
to the residents* well-being, every
room has been designed with a
television and telephone outlet.
While great attention has been
paid to the residents' "creature
comforts" . the first concern has
been with the provision of excel-
lent patient care. Patients will
be assured Of Registered Profession-
al nursing staff of Registered Nur ,
ses and Registered.Nursing Assist-
ants 24 hours a day, every day,
and this professional'care will be
very capably augmented by a
-large staff of highly experienced
and professionally trained nursing
aides; whose first concern is for

set as the first week of December,
'and the Lucknow and 'area resid-
ents can look forward to having
an excellent , modern facility to
assure them and their families
that, should the need arise, there
will, be a nursing care -facility of
high quality in their immediate
area to serve them.
