45th Anniversary
On Saturday, June 16th The Log
Cabin, Lucknow was the setting
for a lovely dinner in honour of
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Whytock's
45th wedding anniversary. Some
30 guests were present including
the immediate family, and rela-
tives. .
On June 20th, 1928 the mar-
raige was performedby, Rev. S.
R. Johnston, R. R. 4. London,
formerly of Bervie:United Church,

home, Mr. and Mrs.. George

Born in Galt, Mr. King trained
for the ministry at Seager Hall,
London, after thirteen. years
business experience. He served
in the Parishes of 'Lucknow and
Walkerton'before moving to St.
Clair Beach in January 1968.

Mr. King and his wife (Marjean
Delores DeMille) have a family of

bereaved by the death of one
son Harold, August 16 , 1968.
There are nine grandchildren.
Their family and relatives
presented them with some lovely

Bruce Is Leading In Elderly Care
The Ontario government will
introduce a pre. -retirement camp-
aign this week, a plan aimed at
preparing people for retirement
living, Rene. Brunelle,
minister -of community and family
services, said in Walkerton on
Wednesday of.last week.
He was; speaking• at the -opening
of a,$640,000, 66 -resident addi-
tion to the, county home, Bruce-
lea Haven. •
The campaign is being opened
in conjunction. with Senior Citiz-
ens' Week.'
One' third of the average life
will soon be spent in retirement
and to make this. retirement purp-
oseful'there must be personal
planning, the minister said. •
"The prospect of leisure
timecan be frightening, if we are
not prepared for it," he said.
There is suggestion that the•
retirement age should be lowered
from 65. Citizens should make
their plans long before retirement
comes..Co -operaiion ,of unions
has been asked in the prepara-
tion and older poeple can make a
real contribution by telling the
younger element of retirement
problems, Mr. Brunelle said.
"We have .become a leisure -
oriented society and the time
to prepare for retirement is at 40
or over."
The66-resident addition to
the home completed in 1961 gives
acommodation.for 158., Bruce
County also has Gateway Haven
at Winton with a 100 -resident
capacity.

province in providing accommoda -
tion for the elderly.
The Ontario cabinet manage-
ment board chairman, Eric Wink-
ler of Hanover, assisted the
'home's oldest resident, Euphemia
Little, 100, unveil the plaque.
' . Mr. Brunelle presented a scroll
to the resident council through its
chairman Andrew Muir.
The president of the Ontario
Homes for the Aged, Association,
Sister St. Philip Neri presented -
a membership scroll to the com-
mittee of management for the
home. Lloyd Leisemer of Mild-
may gave, on behalf of the Gid-
eon Society, 66 Bibles.
Everett Brown of Kincardine
was chairman of the opening.
