sounds flowed from the Lucknow
Central Public School as an all
day band clinic saw eight instruct•'
ors and about 75 students spend a
full day teaching and learning the
skills ,of band music.
Gordon Cayley, bandmaster
for the Lucknow school band , in-
vited Jim Ford of London and a
group of instructors to Lucknow for
the clinic. The Lucknow band
had attended a similar clinic in
Goderich last year.
Mr. Cayley found the group of•
musical instructors only too
willing to come and give of their
talent for the day. It is worthy of
mention that the instructors re-
ceived nopay for their long day's
activity in. Lucknow and $30, the .
:cost of mileage for three cars,
was•the total cost to the local
band for this wealth 'of •
talent which made themselves
available to the .local band,
people. •
Fifteen. attended from Goder-
ich and over 60 from the Luck-
now Band..
Incharge of the day's instruc-
tion was Jim Ford of London a
teacher at theuniversity there, a
member of the London Syn bony
and director of Ontario Youth,
Music Camp•at Beaverton.. He
instructed the group in trumpet
and led the band in their group
numbers. :
