the impression that Lucknow is in
the County of Huron which, ,of
course, is wrong.
'The proposed boundaries for the
new Grey-Bruce riding, formerly
known 'as Bruce, read:. "Grey Bruce
will consist of 'the County of Bruce'
including the whole of the Village
of Lucknow". This leaves the
iMpression that all of Lucknow was
not formerly in the tiding, or per-
hals that Lucknow is not in the ,
County of pence, both which of
course, are untrue. •
nie find it hard to understand .
the' reference to Inicknow in both
cases. Lucknow is the only muni-
cipality in Huron or Bruce to be
specifically mentioned 'in the
proposals:
The reason for this is probably
because Inc-know sits on the bound-
nry nine between the two ridings.'
'but the fact is that. Lucknow is
incorporated in Bruce County
and has been since die early
boundary problems were 'solved a.
couple of generations ago.'
The fact .that thisneference • I
to Lucknow has been a confusing
thing,to the population of this
area is proven•by, the following
two quotes from Bruce County
newspapers after announcement
of the proposed redistribution.
FROM THE PORT, ELGIN TIMES
"The .present riding will be •
added to With the addition of part
of Lucnnow".
INCORRECT
FROM THE KINCARDINE NEWS
"The boundaries acid part of
Lucknow from the former Huron
Riding",
INCORRECT
. Both these newspapers were cell:-
fused by tne misleading references
to Lucknow in the proposals of
tne commission in charge of
redincibution.
