During the C-hristmas and
New Year's vacation perios, the
fire whistle sounded'twice in 'Rip-
-ley calling out the-Ripley-ftremen
The first time was Thursday morn-
ing,' just.nefore Christmas, when
it was thought a cottage at Bruce
Beach was on fire. Fortunately,
it was just, a mass 'of black sitoke
coming from the chimney of an
occupied cottage. Then last
Friday morning the. Ripley Fire
• Department was called to a, house
at Silver Lake where a minor
blaze inside the dwelling was
extinguished.

holiday. The plane had to land.
at Montreal due to the fog condi-

and Patsy arrived Christmas Eve at

family gathering including Mr.

passed away on FridaY, Decemb-

Hospital in his 83rd year. For
several years Donald delivered.,
the mail on route 4 from Ripley
post office. This route takes in
• the 8th and 6th concessions of
Huron Township, The, funeral
was held on Sunday, .Decernber
24 at the Ross- MacLennan Home
in Kincardine:" He is survived , by
a son, Father Donald MacLennan
Detroit, two brothers Neil of
Ripley and Angus of Toronto and
a sister Mary Mrs. Harold Court-
