Mr. Wright said that since the
new Farm Machinery Board was
0 formed in June most of work has
r involved investigating farmer's
complaints. All but two or three
of the 80 complaints have been
resolved, he said. Members of
I
the•five man board have also
toured farm manufacturing plants
in Canada and the U.S. to see
what facilitieS the companies
had forqarts`. In one i)lant , he
said; khe parts department cover-
ed 25 acres under-one ,roof.
He said that most problems in
companies were not parts prob-
lems but people "problems. Often.
a parts man with a company, hp
said, wasn't concerned about the
fact that a combine somewhere
rriay-be broken, and needing a par;
but was only interested in Friday
night and pay• day. .• •
He said that anyone who has a
complaint should submit it 'in
writing to the board. Mr. Wright
said that he would then talk to
all parties concerned {and if nec-
essary gei them together to 'work
out their problems.
He stressed that preventative
maintenance would often prevent
machines from breaking down
just when they., were most needed,
but if an emergency did arise he
said .the farmer should let the
dealer know that he is willing to
pay the extra ,costs to, get the ..
needed part in a hurry. •
Later in the meeting; the
bers of the Federation approved
a resolution to go to the Ontario
Federation of Agriculture's annual
meetin later this month ,masking-__
for a list of emergency parts per-
sonnel and their telephone num-
bers to be distributed to OFA
Members so they could get parts
I service quickly in an emergency.
