The Water supply in Ripley is•
very high in bacteria so it not

cut off and we can not drink•it.
Water has to be boiled or
Javex has to be put in it'in order
for, it to be drunk.' All of Ripley
has this problem so I guess we are
not the only ones that are suffer- ,
ing. But I, ink that trowino,
children get a lot thirstier'. This .
old saying is very true, "Water,
Cater Ev.e.r_y-v,Lhee but not a drop
to spare! r.!"

On Wednesday, December 5th,
Ripley-Hurbn Central School re-
ceived their report cards for the
first term. Along with our report
cards came our pictures that we
had been waiting for since Octob-
er 25th. Most'ef the teiehers
handed them out together at 3.45.
Now the question going around our
school is "Can I have a picture of
you?"

a good attendance. Mrs. Walter

the opening Ode and Mary Stew-
art Collect. The..roll call was

Favourite Christmas ,Carol and
the 'Cheerio report was given.
•Mrs. Charles Steward presided
for the program and opened'the
program by singing three Christ-
mas Carols. She introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. Lorne Sparks
of Kinlosi who gave a splendid
talk on the.ChriStrnas.story,

:ticket on the prize draw. We will
have a weigh in on December
27th at 5.15 instead of a regular '
meeting that night. Our Christ-'
mas contest will run from the
meeting !before Christmas •to the
meeting.after New Years, - the
member losing the 'most weight in
that time will receive the money.
.Eighteen members.repeated the
Tops Pledge when Chapter,.1600,
Lucknow met in the. Town Hall on
December 6th. A new Christmas
Tops song. Was sung., 'The minutes •
were read and adopted.'
1.3 lbs. Were lost and I/2
gained .Suzanne Andrew was
crowned Queen of The Week and
•Marion Mowbray's team won.

Mrs. Armstrong Wilson presided
for the business part of the meet-
ing. The minutes of the-ia-st Meet-
ing were read and discussed. Re-

parties and the, Christmas puddings
were given. • It was decided to
continue the card parties in the
New Year.
Mrs. Wesley Joynt was the
AuCtioneer fdt the sale that
followed and as Usual
' did a splendid job, and •as •she
finished she asked. the ladies to

Charles Steward who had just had
a birthday.
The meeting closed with the
singing of the' Queen and the.
Institute grace,.
The committee set up the
tahles and all enjoyed a bOunti-

Barbara Emberlin led an inter-
esting discussion on calories and
their use. Marg. Black led in
exercises.
