About Lack Of
CNR Weed Cutting
Dear Don;
Enclosed is a copy of.a letter
that I have just written to Mr. N.
J. MacMillan., President, Canad-
ian National Railways, which is
self-explanatory.
I am sending it on to you with
the possiblity that yon_may •
publish it in your paper for the
information of your readers.
Many of them have written to me,
and indeed spoken verbally about
this deplorable situation that one
of the major organizations in
Canada is involved in at this time
time. It, is a situation that
cannot be tolerated and will
certainly ler you know the answer
that I get from Mr. MacMillan.

With this as a background, I
would appreciate it if you would
issue instructions to your staff to
obey th, Law in this connection
and have the weeds destroyed in
the Counties of Grey •and Bruce.
And, while you are at it , I sug-
gest that you look over the rest
of Canada too', as understand
that the same situation prevails in
other places. Your comments:
will be appreciated'.
Yours very truly,
Ross,M. Whicher, M.P. ;

ingsbridge Gets
ortable Classroom
or 'Kindergarten
For the first time in five years,
Idndergarten pupils at St: Joseph's
hool in Kingsbridge will be tak-
ing their lessons in a classroom,
ather than on the gym -
asium stage. .
Huron-Perth County separate
hool board voted 8 to 5 last
eek in favor of placing a
gable classroom at the school,
hich for four year
ted its kindergarten on the stage.
The portable is to be rented at
cost of $2,500 a year and will
installed soon after Septerriber
Mr. Archie McCulloch. the
Weed Inspector fol.' the County of
Bruce has -corne to me with a 'most
justifiable complaint. It is simply
that the huge Organization that
you head is doing nothing about
the weedsituation, on thegreat
1. amount of land that you own in .
Bruce County. I can only add that
I have had many letters from in-
dividual farmers, dealing with the
same problem, and indeed these
letters have not just come from
Bruce, but also frond the County
of Grey. • As a matter,, of fact_,_I
have personally written to you .
about this situation in the past.
To •date, absolutely nothing of
consequence has, been done: •
Do' you honestly feel that this
is a situation that can be
tolerated? Is if fair that individual
farmers should, be forced to' cut
•
their weeks., and indeed are happy'
to do so, while a huge corporation
sticltas your oWn,'stipported by .
taxpayers dollars should get off .'
scot-free? , Much more could be'
said , but the brutal fact is that
because of your huge resources, •
you 'are trying to ignore the laW
that private individii a is :are forced '•
to keep or pay the proper penalty.
I am sure that a man of your stat-
ure does not wish to find himself
in this'position.
