APRIL 1952
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Finlay moved
from Seaforth to Lucknow to.an
apartment above Purdon's Wall-
Taper Shop. .Mr. Finlay was a .
clothing traveller.
Luckhow residents were on vol-
untary water "rations:': in order to
conserve the standpipe supply
while repairs were being made to
the burned-out motor of the sec-
ond well from which the system's
main water supply of water was
obtained. This high speed motor
had burned out a few months pre-
viously and similar emergency
repairs had been made at that
time.
A gang_of safe crackers blew
open the safe at the Lucknow
plant of SilverWood Dairies, but
got little more than "travelling
expenses". It was the second
time within a week that the
Creamery had been broken into.

The closing meeting of the
Stratford Normal School Literary
Society was reported n the
Stratford paper. Local interest
was given to the occasion by the
fact that a foriner Lucknow
School pupil Miss Dean I. Ma -
Leod was selected to give the
most important number of the
evening's program , the valedic-
tory address. Commenting on the
address the Stratford paper had
the following. "Miss MacLeod
is an able speaker , speaking dis-
tinctly and with no haste , allow-
ing every word-to sink in on the
minds of her audience. She was •
especially good and held the rapt,
attention of her audience during
the' whole valedictory."
