F, E. Madill Secondary
School in Wingham has announced
six Ontirio Scholars in the grade
13 class this year.
To qualify as an Ontario Schol-
ar a student must have an 80%
average in six credits. Each stu-
dent receives $150 from the PrOi-
ince of Ontario.
The six students are Norman

ario Scholars in the grade 13 class
at F. E. Madill Secondary School
this year.
Kathy plans to attend Western
University in' London this Fall.
She has worked with the Recrea-
tion Planning and Development
Committee in the ficknow area
this summer.

$1050 was .donated by the Rec-
reation/Planning and Development
Committee to the Arena Commit-
tee in order to purchase the skates.
The money is proceeds of the loc.,
al skating program over theium-
mei; months.
The roller\ skating. Orogram,
organized in Lucknow by the Rec-
reation Planning and Development
Committee, has been a very suc-
cessful one. The skates were in-
itially rented from Skareland in'
London and rental fees of about

Flower Show
The .14th annual Summer _Flow-
er, Show of Lucknow: Horticul-
tural Society was'held in ,the
Legion Hall on Monday, August
2Ist with a/gOod attendance of
viewers.
Although there were only 11
exhibitors and i22 entries in the
show this year, the Hall looked
very attractive. Much credit is
due to the show committee, Miss
Elizabeth Robinson, Mrs. Walter
Dexter , Mrs. Howard Barger ,
and Robert Fisher for their efforts
in setting up tables, and arrang-
ing entries and also to Mrs. Ross
CuMMing for keeping records of
the judging results. Mrs. Ewan
MacLean assisted by Mrs. D.

Lions Club, the Recreation Coin-.
mittee, The Agricultural Society
and the pool manufacturer, the
site was established.
The Agricultural Society own
frontage on the Caledonian Park.
The pool site is immediately
south of this frontage'and on the
west side, on the park' in the area
of the practice ball diamond.,
Gregory Blake, 19 year old
son of Mr. and' Mrs. 'Howard
Blake of R. R. 7 Lucknow left
Friday, August 25 by plane for
Victoria, British Columbia.
Gregory is a Grade 13 graduate'

Wingham and is now entering
engineering and will take his first'
two years at the Royal ROads Mil-
itary College, Victoria, B.C.
and then two: years at the •Royal
Military Colfege, Kingston,
Ontario.
$1000 have been paid to the
London firm by the RPDC to date.
Over and above the rental, the
Recreation group has $1050 profit
to turn over to' the Arena Commit-
tee and which has been used to
purchase the skates and assure a
continuing roller skating program
in the future.

The engineering firm of Gos-
ling and Co. , who did the engin-
eering work on the restoration of
the Lucknow arena a few years
ago, advised council that-the
Main drain in the area of the pool
site , which drains' that property,
must extend' 6 to 8 feet outside
the 'Piers of the arena wall,
Council did not feel that this
left enough room for the installa-
tion of the pool, allowing for
proper drainage facilities, and

The sod was turned on the con-
struction of the swimming pool
on Monday morning ,of this week,
by Imperial Pools , contractor for
the installation.
Original,site for the pool was
immediately south of and along
side of the 'Lucknow arena using
the arena for change rooms.
Further investigation by the
Lucknow Village Council, who
are providing the site for the
pool, indicated that this site
would not, be suitable.

Lucluiow, purchased the Fairview
Dairy from Ewart Taylor in 1942
and Alex bought out Charlie's
interest iu 94.
• Processing of milk was carried
out in the dairy until 1966 when
arrangements were completed
with Lakeview Dairy in Barrie to
supply the local firm. All prod-

and distributed locally.

miles. Steve, the son of. Mr. and
