brother Mr.. and Mrs. Doug Mac-
Donald and Patti at the home-
stead west of the village were,
Margaret (:Mrs. James Hill) of
Arthur, Major Robert MacDonald
of the Canadian Armed Forces, ,
'Ottawa and two daughters and' Dr.
'and Mrs. Donald W. MacDonald
of Edmonton, Alberta. Always
a popular faMily in this area ,
they were most' generous in taking
their time to renew friendships
around Ripley.

George's sale at ten in the morn-
ing - starting with the articles
outside on Elmer Courtneys truck
and later moving indoors. Assist-
ing the auctioneers were Burton
Shewfelt of Kincardine, Lynn
Lowry of Amberley , Ron Funston
of Pine River, Bryan Boyle of
Purple Grove and. Brian MacDon-
ald of Ripley. Recording treasur-
er of the sale was Peter Barber of
the_Ontario-Livesto ,k Sa l es in
Toronto and registering the bidd-
ers was Ab Wylds. Hundreds of
people •attended the sale and it
was a great re-union time.

A few of 'the top sales might be
mentioned here. Mrs. Pat Green-
wood• of St. Jacobs, 'the former
Patricia Brown of the Point Clark
area , got a corner chair and love .
'seat for $420. The saddle back
chair of this set of three went to
Mrs. Elizabeth Dalton of Ashfield
for $190 and she also got the roll
top writing desk for $1'75 dollars.
The round extension maple table
went to Mrs, Norma German,
207 Fairway, London for $156 and
a brass bed to R. J. Shier of
Georgetown and. LucknoW for $110,
Other articles were a working
wooden purinp to Mrs. Walker in
Walkerton. Another buyer from
Walkerton paid $50 for the oxen
yoke.

Another big farm clearing sale
was held on Saturday for the, .
estate of the late William
Cameron, about one mile west of
Gordcin Cameron's Pine River
Store.. As-well as farining,thi-
late Billy Comeron was a well
known hunter and trapper in the
area. The sale featured his col-
lection of guns. One brought the'
top price of $200. There were
many antiques at this sale also,
as well.as machinery and house-
hold effects. Gordon. Ribey of
Underwood was the auctioneer.
Some travelled back and forth
along the eighth concession be-
tween the two sales. Jim Need=
ham was talking to R. E. (Dick)
Goodin of Oakville. Dick was
formerly with the Department of
Agriculture in Toronto and is
known to several people here as
a competent judge of farm crops

A reception and dance was
held last Friday evening in Huron'
Township hall in Ripley in honour
of Mr. and, Mrs. Keith van der
Hoek.
Mr. and Mrs. Niels Frederiksen
had'a lengthy motor trip from
Thursday to Saturday last week,
end. On the first part of their.
journey Nora's mother, Mrs.
Charles Wyld , accompanied
them. The first stop was Owen
Sound, where Mrs. Frederiksen.
underwent a checkup, then Mrs.
Wyld stopped at Mea ford for
visiting and from there' to Toron-
to where Niels underwent a check,
returning home to Ripley on Satur-
day.
On Friday morning, four trucki
re-used-to-move-furniture-and
antiques into the Ripley District
'High School auditorium for George
McDonald. Assisting George were
brother Murray„ Bob Courtney and
sons Pat and Mike , Mac Boyd,
Grant McDonald*, Leonard Tout ,
John MacDonald ; Leonard Irwin,
Gordon Boyd , yours- truly , and
assistin
taker Murdock McDonald'. In the
• 'afternoon the articles were arrang-
ed and the display looked as large
as the indoor exhibition of the
Ripley-Huron fall fair , completely
filling the auditorium. The dis-
play was open for inspection on
Friday evening. • On Friday after-
noon the tagging of the different'
lots was done by Mrs. Bob Court-
ney and Mrs. Bill Kemrdion with
the assistance of auctioneer Grant
McDonald and Mr. and Mrs.
George McDonald.

As a result of "open house” at
the high school auditoriuM on Fri-
day evening, many people 'after
seeing George's articles, came up
street , and viewed the antiques in
Albert Verheye's shop. People
took advantage of 'the pleasant
dry Summer evening and visited
both displays in record numbers.
