idents thanked the Athlone W.I.
for the happy time given the,
ladies, their hospitality and din-
ner. Mrs. Victor Emerson theji
asked the Athlone branch how they
came to invite our branch. They
had'decided they would invite .a
branch from Grey-Bruce area. At
the 75th' Anniver sary in February
at Toronto they saw Mrs. Rose,
Biasing with Grey-Bruce and ,she
'being Area President suggested
Whitechurch. There were around
28 in attendance from here.

WHITECHURCH NEWS
On ,Thursday Whitechurch
Women'S Institute were at Strat-
ford , where they had been
invited to spend the day the guests
of Athlone W.I. branch of Perth
Centre District, This was Ath-
lones way of celebrating the 75th
anniversary of Women's
Institutes. •
Whitechtirch had been invited to
attend the Wingham Inititute ,
. celebration.the same day. This '
they could ' not accept since they
had accepted Athlone's invitation.
The-Whitechurch, W.I._ had_
plans made to go 'in the Salvation
Army bus, but the bus failed to
start and the W.I. at a late hour
had to resort to going in 5• cars.
They arrived at St. Paul's
Anglican Church around 12
o'clock. After the noon meal
and a short program the-ladies
were chaperoned through the
city to see the museum, the art
gallery, and to. Shakespearland
on Romeo. Street. This set up is
similar to Woodkigh Replicas of .
Prince Edward Island..
To enter Shikespear's Stratford
you cross Cloptota foot bridge
to the tiny town like Shakespear
loved. Ambng the places to be'
seen are Shaketpea.rs birthplace ,
the library, several Banks,
Shakespear Hotel , Falcon inn,
Grammar School. The home of
Susannah, Shakespear's daughter,
is Halls Croft; the thatched Anne
Hathaway Cottage , childboOd
home of Shakespear's wife; the
borne of Mary Arden , his,mother.
The final stop of the tour is a
visit to the Coach and Horses Gift,
Shop with brass...and many irErnc.

Many friends called to visit
with Mrs. James Richardson at.
the Open House at the home of Mr,
and Mrs.' Allan Graham on Sunday
afternoon. Mrs. Richardson plans
to leave in about three weeks
from now for Zambia , Africa,
where she will teach the children
of missionaries ina boarding
school. • • •
Mrs. 'Harvey Houston was guest
speaker at Bradley Women's Insti-
tute , Bruce East; on Wednesday
evening. Mrs. Elphick of Luck-
now 'accompanied Mrs. Houston.
•Betty Colwell and Linda Boyle
returned Saturday from their
Western trip.. They motored out
to Winnipeg on the Trans Canada
and returned via U.S.A.
WILL WORK IN NEWFOUNDLAND
Mr.. and Mrs. Ira Dickie and
William were down to Guelph
Thursday evening. Douglas Dick-
ie left from Guelph.on Friday for
Newfoundland. .011 Tuesday he
presents a paper at the National
Convention Agricultural Institute
of Canada at `the University of '
P.E.I. at Charlottetown. He
goes on frOm there to his, work in
rura-lclevelopfnent and-e-xtertsion
in• Newfoundland.
We are pleased to hear that Mrs.
Gilbert HamiltOn is home from
Victoria Hospital, where she
underwent surgery the first of last
week. •'
SELLS-FARM
We are going to miss Mrs.
Harold Stanley from the Second
Concession. She has' sold her ,
farm and is moving to Lucknow.
A new family is, also moving
into_the home on Orville Elliott's
farm, (the former Maclnnes
home).
Allan MacIntyre is also hcime
from several dayS spent in Victor-
ia. Hospital, London.. His brother
Dr.. Alex iMacIntyre of Alliston
visited him in London, and he was
able to come with him.

week the Brookside School Teach-
ers had a barKiuet at the Bedford.
Hotel in Goderich, to which all teachers who had served during
Angus MacLennan's five years as
principal were invited.
Two retiring teachers, Mrs.
Robert Irvin of Dungannon and
Mrs. Pat Allen of Blyth, also
Mr. MacLennan, who is being
transferred to LonOesboro as Prin-
cipal were presented with gifts.

was also remembered with carna-
tions and a corn flower dish, and
