Marked lly Picnic At Sher Lake RECREATION

At times,. because of inclem-
ent weather, we might think we
are regressing back to the winter
season but,.in fact, we are enter-
ing into.the full swing of summer._
With summer comes the chance
,for many varied interesting rec-
reational activities,

Activities such as houseleague •
softball, bexhig„roller 'skating
and a community choir are in.
full swing, Starting July 10 , a
new in playgrounds will
be initiated in our area. The
playground, which will feature
such things as arts and crafts,
obby craft , music , drama and
ports; will be a travelling trailer

leaders this year will be Miss .
Kathy Hogan .and Miss Brenda
Bushell. These two young ladies ,
through past experience and a
leader training program, will help
make your child's summer an ed-
ucational and recreational holiday.
At the Recreation Showcase on
July 7th and 8th ,•you will be able
to see for yourself many of the
interesting recreational activities
available to the community; The
displays range from oil painting /
demonstration to the actual pro-
cess of Shearing sheep and taking
that wool and making a sweater. -
Also included will be various
hobby craft collections. On the
eyeriings of the 7th and 8th you.
will be treated to constant enter-
tainment from 'various people and
groups in the area. If you have
not been contacted and would
like to participate by having a
display, please contact us at the,,

The. Roller Skating being offer-
ed to the community this year is
a result of db.-operation and assist-
ance given by the Arena Board ,
the HOrtictiltural Society and.
many interest citizens, The
music you hear echoing from the
Arena during roller skating is
due to the generosity and insight
of your local Lions club,•' This •
kind. of interaction is needed in
-any *srrialtrown and it is
good to .see .. • . .
The Arena Board has sanctioned
the opening of the arena

idea,. let us know. Some pro-
grahis in the planning stages are
indoor. soccer and lacrosse. Our

On the evening of June 13,
over 200 ladies from the District
gathered at the United,Church
camp site at Silver Lake, fora
picnic in honour of the 75th
anniversary of the Women's
Institute.
The supper was served in smorg
asbord style from a table decorat-
ed in the Institute colours of
Royal Blue and Gold centered by
an anniversary cake made by
Mrs. George Fisher, Whirechurch.
After the delibioiis supper a'
very enjoyable program consisted
of a sing song; Mrs. Harold Bias-
ing , Area 13.esident,- brOught
greetings from the Area.
She reminded to "Keep our
hedges trimmed , that we can see
all around, our neighbours may
need some help"..
. Belmore Branch presented a
Chapman's' writings and •
"A letter from a country cousin to
a city cousin".

late James Stanley and Frances
ThompSon met for a family re-
union at the residence of Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Emmerton on Sun-
day afternoon. A large colorful
