Juveniles Win 21 In Ten Innings next inning. At the end of nine innings the score •remainded 1-1. In the tenth inning John MacKen- zie drove home the winning run with Peter Chisholm crossing the plate from third. The focal team played a•good game of ball, with'Almer Aekert pitching the complete game.and Dale Hunter 'handling the catch- ing duties. Lucknow's next home -game is June 19th against Ayton. Lose Openers Lucknow Pee Wee ball team`` opened the season last week and played on Thursday and Sunday. George Stanley is coaching the team, At Teeswater on Thursday , the - Lucknow team went down to a 15-2 defeat. In Paisley on Sun- day, Paisley won 18-10 over Luck-1 now. Midget Ball Team OffTo - Successful Start Ashfield Plan Summer Recreation On June 5th, a•meeting of the Ashfield Recreation Committee was held at Brookside. School. John Austin opened the meeting with nominations for. Secretary. Mrs. Barry Hackett, was norninat- ed. The minutes of the last ineeting"were read. The corres- pondence was read after which the financial report was given. Swimming lessons in Goderich were then discussed. Mr. p'ark, from the Goderich Pool, was there to dis,cuss this year's swimming program. It' was decided that the lessons would be in Augtist friym 9 a.m. to 10 a.m._ The cost of swimming lessons and busing the children was then discused.'Di.f- o----f erent-ideas-weregiite-n-for-ma-k., ing tx,oney to help pay for the buses but nothing definite was decided. Last year the .Recreation Committee paid ,for quite a bit of the busing. The' Walkra-Thon made this posgble, but seeing that no definite ideas had come up for this year it was ' decided that the parents would be called upon to pay for •more of the busing.. Mr. Austin asked the Committee what their feelings were on continuing the swimming lessons and the. general opinion was that' the swimming lessons were very important for the young people of the area. It was decided that the lessons would' e-ost-44:40-aud-the--pa-rents-would- be asked to pay, $6.00 towards the busing of the children making a total of $10.00 per child. The Committee is itoping to come up with some way of paying for the rest. It was suggestedthat 'it would • mittee of people in the commun- ity to think up and plan some" activities to help raise money. Warren Zinn presented 'a book ig-appara-t ' for Dungannon and Ashfield Park: Bill Black said he would_ look into'it as he knew where he could get sorne. It was decided to have an activ- ity night at Brookside ,School one night a'week during the summer months. This is to be held for the girls too young' to play ball or if they would- like to take part in something other than .base- ball. Mrs. ,Barry Hackett is going to head this up and she will be anxious=' b hear from—people ested in helping her and girls who are interested in coming to this fur, night. Lucknow's Midget Ball Club opened their schedule in fine fashion, playing three games, ' winning two and tying the other. On Tuesday night of last week in their opener on the local diam• ond, Lucknow hedged out Formosa 11-10 in a thriller,that went down to the very last,inning. Ian Montgomery, Kerry Pardon and Mark Chisholm shared the pitch- ing duties. Mark Chisholm was . the' hero of the game , as he batted ,in the winning run, on a home run. been played in Teeswater on ,Thursday night but was cancelled due to weather conditions and rescheduled for' Saturday night. Led by some fine pitching from Ian Montgomery , who pitched the cornplete,ga me _the local boys. defeated the Teeswater team 11-3. Sunday afternoon Lucknow trav- elled-to Southamptea-andhad-t settle for,,a tie same 6-6.
