with Peter Chisholm crossing the

Summer Recreation
On June 5th, a•meeting of the
Ashfield Recreation Committee
was held at Brookside. School.
John Austin opened the meeting
with nominations for. Secretary.
Mrs. Barry Hackett, was norninat-
ed. The minutes of the last
ineeting"were read. The corres-
pondence was read after which the
financial report was given.
Swimming lessons in Goderich
were then discussed. Mr. p'ark,
from the Goderich Pool, was there
to dis,cuss this year's swimming
program. It' was decided that the
lessons would be in Augtist friym
9 a.m. to 10 a.m._ The cost of
swimming lessons and busing the
children was then discused.'Di.f-

buses but nothing definite was
decided. Last year the .Recreation
Committee paid ,for quite a bit of
the busing. The' Walkra-Thon
made this posgble, but seeing
that no definite ideas had come
up for this year it was ' decided
that the parents would be called
upon to pay for •more of the
busing.. Mr. Austin asked the
Committee what their feelings
were on continuing the swimming
lessons and the. general opinion
was that' the swimming lessons
were very important for the young
people of the area. It was
decided that the lessons would'
e-ost-44:40-aud-the--pa-rents-would-
be asked to pay, $6.00 towards
the busing of the children making
a total of $10.00 per child. The
Committee is itoping to come up
with some way of paying for the
rest.
It was suggestedthat 'it would

ball. Mrs. ,Barry Hackett is going
to head this up and she will be
anxious=' b hear from—people
ested in helping her and girls who
are interested in coming to this

The meeting came to a close
with lois of conversation about
the summer ahead.

Lucknow's Midget Ball Club
opened their schedule in fine
fashion, playing three games, '
winning two and tying the other.
On Tuesday night of last week
in their opener on the local diam•
ond, Lucknow hedged out Formosa
11-10 in a thriller,that went down
to the very last,inning. Ian
Montgomery, Kerry Pardon and
Mark Chisholm shared the pitch-
ing duties. Mark Chisholm was .
the' hero of the game , as he
batted ,in the winning run, on a
home run.

few innings, the score ended in a
tie. Kerry Purdon, Mark Chis-
holm and Ian . Montgomery shared
the pitching duties.
Next Friday night will see Luck-.
now at home to Ripley and if you

provided plenty of excitement on
Sunday night on the local diamond
as they defeated the Hanover
Intermediate team 2-1.
It wasn't until late in the game
