GIRLS BASKETBALL

Ripley girls basketball team
went over to the Ripley High
School and had a basketball game
against Grade 9. We played three
periods of 15 minutes. At the
of the first period the'e, scorwas
6-0. At the end of the second
period , the score was 14-6 and at
the end of the third period it was
17-10 for the Ripley-Huron Central
girls.
DO WELL IN BASKETBALL
Ripley-Huron Central School
did well at the basketball tourna-
mpra held, at ,Chesley on Saturday
competing against elementary
schoolk from , Bruce County.
In the championship game ,
after Ripley had, won three earlier
games, W. E. Thompson Public
School at Kincardine defeated
Ripley-Huron 50-26 to take the
championship. Randy Strauss
scored 14 points ,. Sheldon Solo-
mon 5 , Ken MacKay 4, Steve
Emmerton 2 and Kenny Stuart
Kincardine won the R. G. Alex

Brenda Webster bride-elect was
guest of honour at a community
'shower in .the Si.- Helens Hall.
Mrs. Harold . Gaunt was chairlady
and Cathy Phandlet played several
melodies while the ladies gather-
ed. Readings were given by Mrs;
E.' W. Rice, Mrs. Harold Cooper
and Mrs. Bob Aitchison. Mrs.
Gordon. MacPherson condncted'a •
bridal contest. Musical numbers
were given by Janice. Gaunt,
Marjorie Murray and the 12th
ladies sang a humorous song com-
posed by Mrs. Tom Pritchard.
Brenda was assisted in opening
her gifts by her sister Carol, and
Lynda Snowden with Mrs. Ralph
Small, Mrs. Don Wall and Mrs.
Gordon Campbell arranging the,
gifts and Mrs. Wall read an
address of Good, Wishes. The
bride-elect thanked everyone for
their gifts and invited the ladies
to her home for "Open House" on
May 27th.
Bradley Humphrey and Lynn
Miller were guests on Thursday
at Dean Gundy's 10th birthday
party.

London were Sunday visitors with
Mrs: W. I. Miller and Isobel.

held their meeting.. on May 12th
in the Institute rooms. The Pres-
ident , Mrs. Armstrong Wilson
opened the meeting with the
Institute Ode and the Mary Stew-

from Mrs. Charles Steward for
flowers and 'cards she received
and from the Ross MacMillpn
family. Other correspondence
was dealt with.
The Achievement Day will be
held in Lucknow on June 3. Ar-

Hockey teams.
Mrs. A. Wilson took charge
of the program in the absence
C of Mrs. Sam Gibson, convener of
the grandmothees program, open-
ing with a poem for Grandmothers.
The roll call was answered by

Grandritother". Dr. J. E. Little
entertained the ladies with two
lovely violin numbers. NIrs.
Alex MacNay introduced the guest
speaker Mrs. Ross Shiells, who
took as her topic the "Seven words ••

It was a very interesting talk
and Mrs. John Wraith thanked
Mrs. Shiells on behalf of the lad-

at Guelph and Mrs. Fred Flanagan
gave a demonstration on cosmet-
