Room Seven presented their
assembly on May 4. It was open-
Led with 0 Canada and The Lord's
Prayer. This was followed by the
Bible lesson, which was, present-
ed by the class in, the form of
choral-speaking, and two songs
called , "Ten Lepers" and, "Up
Up,,With People". A play entit-
led , "Father's Quiet. Evening" was
then presented. Its main actor
was David Dtirnin who played the
• part"of 'Tither". A club swing-
ing number was presented,• by five
girls. This was followed by two
skits, "Lost in the Desert" and, .
"Bert's Bar". The girls then sang
"Let it Be" , and a play called
"Party Line" was performed. The

Mr, and Mrs. Victor Emerson
that Bert (Len) Cullimore , owing •
to recent, surgery , has had to re-
sign from his position of Adminis-
trator of Fairhaven Home for the
. Aged in Peterborough. A 131 bed
addition for the home is proposed
to be built this year and they feel
Len Cullimore's knowledge and
experience at the Home will
be a valuable asset in the planning
of this new building. Bert
resided for a time with late
James and Alfred Emerson.

GUEST SPEAKER
• On Thursday, May 4 the boys
guidance clasp enjoyed a guest
speaker in the person of Don .
Thompson, the editor of the
Lucknow Sentinel. He told of
types of stories , different jobs •
pertaining to newspaper work and
the nature of those jobs. 'After he
finished speaking and answering
questions, Michael Hackett pres-
ented him with a. token of their
gratitude.
REGISTRATION DAY
Friday ,. May 5' was kindergarten
registration• day at our school.
There were thirty-three children
registered for kindergarten next
year.
Died Suddenly
At Age 42
ELDON J. MacLENNAN
This community was saddened
last Friday, April 28 by the sud -
den death of Eldon Johnston Mac-
Lennan, who passed away in
Clinton Hospital, He was born
February 13, 1930, the son of
Rhetta Jordan and the late Emile
MacLennan of Ashfield Town-
ship., •
He was employed at the• Sifto
Salt Mine ,Goderich and. was a
member of KnOx United ChUrCh;
Auburn. .In 1959 he was married
to Elizabeth Anderson of Kincar-•
dine and they resided in Ashfield
Township and Gorrie before going
to Auburn. ° •
-Besides his wife he is survived
by three sons, Roderick, Shawn,
Timothy and one daughter , Cyn-
thia , all at home; also his moth-
er „ Mrs. Rhetta MacLennan of
Lochalsh; six brothers, Roderick
and George of Toronto; ,Donald
Wingham; Finlay, Ripley; Jack,
Stratford; Sandy, Lochalsh; and
four sisters, Mrs. Louise Miller ,
Palmerston; Marion Levac; Mrs. •
FLOOR HOCKEY

On Tnesday, may, 2, the Grade
7 class• of Mrs. Henderson •
challenged Mr. Armstrong's Grade
7 class to a floor hockey match.
Right off, Kevin Ferguson scored
two goals to,put Mr. Armstrong's
grade out in front for an early
lead. Then Laurie Coiling put
*one in the net to make-it 3-,41.,
but the other team didn't give up
and came back to tie it up with
goals from Rickey Storey, Jeff
Rouse, and Jane Ann-coiling.
Heading for overtime both teams
struggled 'to score a goal but at
the end of 20 minutes of regula-
don time the score remained at
'3-3. In sudden death overfirne;
Danny Boyd put one in the
net to give Mr. Armstrong's Grade
7's a Win over Mrs. Henderson's
'Grade fl"-s by a score of 4-3:
BOYS' BASKETBALL

On Tuesday , May 2, Ripley
"A" team Boys' Basketball, trav-
elled to Kincardine to play. Kincar-
dine W. E. lhonapson school.
Kincardine came out on top with
a score of 32 with Ripley
trailing with 10 points. Ripley's
points were scored by Wayne .
Dewar with '3, Randy Strauss with
2, Kenny Stewart with 2 , Dave
Smith with 2 and Steve Emmerton
