Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Scott. The worship service was con- ducted by Mr. V. Wybenga and Don Scott. Helen Wiersma read the minutes of the previous meet- ing and some business items were disCussed. Plans were made for a s kating party ,'to be followed by a social gathering in'the Lang- side hall: on Saturday night, March 25. Helen Wiersma 'introduced a • discussion on the so-called "Jesus People". Mr. Wybenga pointed _' out some of the. causes of •this . The Call to WOrship was given. by Mrs.-W. afterwhich Mrs. G. Murray, Presbyterial President and Mrs. R. Pike of Harriston .u.C. W. extended a want welcome. Reports were given by the 1971 Presbyterial Ex- ecutive Officers:, Rev. Mel Boyd spoke on "Our ' Home Missions" and what the United Church Was doing in this field. In•connection with work with the Indian people he suggest- ed-,..thatuilt_them_, involve. them and work with them. It was a pleasure to have pres- ent a reFesentative from the Anglican Church Women of St., Paul's .Anglican Church, Palmerston, and a representative fram Palmerston Presbyterian Church, all° Mrs. M. Johns, President of Hamilton Conference, U.C. W. The new Literature was present- ed by Mrs. J. Price of Southamp- ton, who has her tern-rof-OffiCe---as7Literature-Sec retary. Mrs. A. Heard, Port Elgin, is the.'new Secretary. Col-. oured slides of "Liturgical Stitch ery" and Banners were shbwn which were very interesting. The afternoon session opened with a Worship Service by Harri- ston U.C. W. and Mrs. W. Poi- loCk, Ripley sang a solo. Mrs. L. Butt conducted the "In Mem- oriam" service. Mrs. R. Neyvatte introduced. Rev. R. C., Plant of Toronto who spoke about thefine work being done by our men and women in other Countries such as Jamaica and . Brazil. He said we had men and women of God representing us and they were often in:grave danger. We can show how much w care-by-Temillig about them , praying for them, and supporting them with, financial assiitante. Rey. Plant was thanked by Mrs. A. B. Eagles of cpiithamptori. Brian Jackson, Congregational Consultant, discussed "The ChurCh School Today" arid an- swered questions. 'Mrs. C McClenaghan- gave a -reading on Easter entitled "Dark-. ness, and Light" followed by hymn 34. Mrs. Dawson gave a,devo- tional, using candles, entitled "In The Beginning". These ladies also had a very impressive 'program, "Reach. For The Top". Questions on the Bible were asked' and points awarded for correct answers. Four different panels took part. Our president asked for .the roll call which was to be answer- ed with an. Irish joke or pay a fine. Our United Church Women are invited to a pot luck dinner at • the Nile Church on April 5th. • Committees to look after our .-Thankoffering,meeting in April . and our "Ladi0 Day" in June were appointed. - Mrs. L. Reed t.introduced her. sister Jean Aitken who played piano selections entitled "Moon- light-Sonata" The /meeting opened with the hymn . What a friend we have 'in Jesus with Rev. 'Odendahl at the piano. Mrs. Tom Salkeld read from St. Mark's gospel and Mrs. John Warren from. St. Luke. The meeting was then conducted from the Living Message ,Mrs. Harvey Mole, president , leadine • and the• Other members .. taking part.. St'. Peter's has been given all new fronials arid hangings, as a memorial', so it was decided to make a gift of the others to St: • Paul's Ripley. Bowline banquets were discussed with dates that the A.C. W. are catering. to. Easter lilies are to be placed in the Church for Easter given by •Mr. and Mrs. T. 3. Salkeld and the Horticultural Society. Al this was hobby night there was a lovely displky of handwork done by the ladies over the winter A delicious lunth was served and the meeting closed with pray- er.. /1 • Our meeting closed with the singing of an Easter hymn and prayer. • • Lunch hostesses were Mrs. 11, Altcin, Mrs. L. Ivers and Mrs. N. Pearson. Our April meeting will .be held in the church on the 18th ,.at 8.15 p.m. • Movement; its strength and weakness, which often leads 'to an unstable religious life.
