UNITY YOUTH NIGHT
The musical<.presentation held•. on Friday night in the Lucknow
arena, billed as a Community Youth=Night--Band:. Concert, was a .fine'
as well. received:the .large crowd on hand.to hear: the
_ success and w by
variety' of musical numbers,
The community can:,well,be proud of the ,Lucknow School .Band.
B ause.:of the continual turnoverinnumbers as the older members
leave school, a .school' band is a. difficult musical group to keep to-
gether. New younger members must be continually trained.
It is evident from the fine presentation that teacher bandmaster
Gordon Cayley has been putting forth an extra : measure ' of : effort in
training . the group,
Sometimeswhen: wehave things available over a' period of
,years, they . becometaken for . granted. The results •oo"many hours : of
ractrce-and--fine- leadership--indicate-that-the-Lucknow-School -Band-
is 'continuingto offer a very essential and Important service to its
young members and to the ,community:
The Dixieland Brass, a group of young local musicians, some
receiving theirtraining- in the School . Band, • addedto the: pleasant
by
musical evening last week ` as ' did the Town .;and Country Four, a
sh Teeswater based'
•youth .group. Add a few numbers by the • Public
School. Choir and you can see that it was truly a Community Youth
Night.
