HEIFERS, VS STEERS The economics of feeding heif• ers in Canada is getting deter to the American situation where.' heifers are . not, discriminated. against by the packers. This fall, heifer prices have been staying within 15c of steer prices.. If . I had a supply of feed and no cattle this fall, I would consider heifer} calves to use up the 'feed. Thereis. a '6c difference . bet- ween steers and heifer calves and. only a 1.5c difference for finished cattle. This -should make a profit advantage of $10.00 to $15.00 for ,'the heifers. There are some extra management prob ms , ith heif- ers, and they shoed bready for market around 900 lbs.. It would be better to plan on finishing heifers rather than 'mak- ing heavy stockers out- of them. WARBLES Cattle. should be .treated for warbles as soon ;as. possible: and definitely efore December 1st. The produ is to useare Neguvon, Ruelene o Co-Ral. - M.
