THEY *NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

One• of our pet peeves is the continual harassment of members
• of the police force by, the annyof demonstrators who pop up here. and
there throughout our country and particu.larly countries abroad and t
the south of us. • •
•
"The policeman's lot is not a happy one"; seems there was some
kind of a song with those words written several years ago. That song
could be written again with a few stronger words inserted in view
of -the -pressures -of -being -a policeman -today .
The whole emphasis today 'seems to be on the -"right' of people"
to_ do as they please when they please with little or no regard for the
-:"basic-standards of---decency-and-respect_forlotheis. At 'one thne„_he .
policeman's duty, was to protect the rights of the 99% who live by the
law . and wish to be protected from the Mall percentage of:rebels.

We detest the would-be reformists who continually cry "police
brutality" every time they are reprimanded for their actions Sure,
there is police brutality here and there. Every human loses "his cool"
when pushed to the breaking point. Now and then a sadist is admitted
to the police force But we would estimate that for every act of police
brutality which occurs, there are many, many thousand acts of re-
straint by police who exercise this restraint at times *ken you and I
would blow our lids.
