ald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs ..John
C. MacDonald of Ripley, has
sumtner employment at the Ripley
Chemicalplant and had left' the
premises. late Friday afternoon with:"
all in order.
The alarin took firemen to the
scene about: 9' p.m. when the cent-
re portion of the structure broke out
in flames.
Ripley Chemicals was established
several years ago in the old Huron
cheese:1-actory on the`12t i o `•
Huron, Midway; between Highway
21 and the "15th For some time

coatings but had, been inactive for
a period Up Until this.spring. At
that time, Jaines Lowry of Toronto,.
a former. Ripley resident , • retired

turned: to..his native. Ripley. Early
in the Spring he established a •retail,
outlet in:the' Ripley Chem'icals
building and was selling paints and •
allied building products.. •
During the early.years. of Ripley •
Chemicals , .several cement, block
additions*:were built to' the. former
cheese factory. The present office
land retail area' is located in the
former cooling building of We.
cheese factory. An addition was
built to.the west of the old cheese.•J.'
factory proper which was turned
int. 'a paintand: coating room,
several• years. ago. A large' addition
ran to the:north and .another addit
ion_ to the east;
The easterly addition had been
leased by Excel -Craft.• of gine*d
