Public... School would proceed in 1969 is welcome; news for this area. While it had been indicated by the Bruce Board `that, the work at Lucknow was high on its list of needs, it was a surprise to many. that the. Lucknow work was proposed for 1969 ' It must be with a good deal, of 'satisfaction that the local board members of the former Township School Area of Kinloss and Lucknow view the announcement. The local board did the groundwork •on this project and spentcountless hours, sometimes frustrating ones, in•plan,• ning the addition: • The .Bruce •Board, at it inception in January of this year, had a well' planned, project n:ha de : p n d to t h em by the: locale board 'members and it is pleasing to know that they . have expressed their confidence in them by proceedingwith the work at 'once ' • Lucknow Public School 'and, its teaching staff `will have some difficult construction days to contend with in the near . future but . the results shouldgive elementary school facilitiessecond to none in the province. ' At one time in Lucknow" the municipal :dump Was • . open at: all-. times and: it: was 'a . mess and a real problem Refuse was dumped everywhere with no respect for roadways, surrounding residential ,and commercial . property or the village council who .was • endeavouring. to control it Because of this,,ptoblem• it was decided to adopt open hours at • the dump with::an attendant on'duty to Supervise the proper dump- , ing of all refuse. • This corrected the damp. problems which .existed but ,may have created new.. problems outside the 'municipality:. The present open hours atthe dump, one hour on Tuesday evenings and two hours .on Thursday afternoons -do not provide, the people of Lucknow with •suit able. dumping times., . • t The• key for the dump has"always been:available from the dump • attendant and . some People • make use of :the' ' facilities in this :way at times ,when the gate is locked. • :However, other find it more, conven- . lent to. haul their refuse out' of town and this in itself may have' caused. more proble i s. ociety,of: Canada'. Mr. Ackert' knows 'that Many of these people are from -��'ucknos and he believes' that lack o •• proper facilities in Lucknow.have aggravated this matter. •He has found" it necessary • to 'threaten ` police action in recent weeks.. .
