STATISTICS MAKE IT CLEAR
Within the, past few weeks,. at a public gathering,, a : statenlent
was made .which disturbed. us.
The comment was passed that facilities at .;the Lucknow arena
were mainly for the benefit of Lucknow young people, not the . young••
people in the surrounding rural •area..
A ` umber of years ago this statement Might '. well have been
,.. Y g for those who'
true; 'although the•facilities have always been available.o .
wished touse them. But .a statementof this type today means that
the person who wouldpass such an opinion is not acquainted With the

facts.

Asa matter of interest,/ we checked the . four hockey pictures
which have'apig ared m The Sentinel . in the past few weeks.. Lucknow
Midgets were comprised of 9 village players and 9 rural, Lucknow
Bantams had 5 village . and 13 rural; Lucknow ' `Pee Wees were com-
prised of 5 village and .11 rural . Lucknow Novice team had 7 village
players and 10 rural. - This is the complete minor' hockey program
in Lucknow this year which was sponsored by the Lucknow Icons Club
' and the Lucknow Legion: Total figures indicate that 26 village boys.
played'. on the teams .
; as compared.to 43 rural" players.
• It
isfortunate, in 'recent . negotiations ' between . 'Lucknow and
three adjacent townships, that it was realized by all municipal councils
that. there must be a sharedprogram in the ' improvements to the
Lucknow arena Although all were not of the, `samethinking as to.
how it should . be , done, there was a common willingness to participate
in.the providing of "facilities at the Lucknow arena
