County engineer James Britnell
told Huron. County Council at
Friday afternoon's session "that 'the
minister of labor has given his app•-
roval'to have snowplowing conte' '.
under regulation 370-6$_' regarding .'
maintenance:, •
At the January 'session, Britneil
had advisedcouncil of the serious
implications inthe new labor reg-
ulations'
eg, ulations where overtime for county
road employees was concerned,' •
Council' had agreed to petition the
minister of labor and:the director
of employment standards to have
the regulation, revisedto include •
snowplowing under the definition
of "Maintenance'`
Britnell told., council he now ant-
icipated little variance in overtime
hours until perhaps December
when severe snowstorms could
again cripple the county.
"I think most everyoneagrees
that snowplowing accounts for
about theonly overtime hours,"
remarked Britnell.'
