Kincardine General Hospital .fold*•'
owing an illness of several. months,
She was born;an December 12,
1903 and had spent most of her life¢
time onthe lake shore south.
She was united in marriage' on'
October 21," 1939 and was prede
ceased by her husband George•
Wightman last Easter an April 9,
1966. Surviving .is, a daughter,
Alberta, Toronto and, a step=son
Ivan of'Belgrave; also.sisters,
Mrs.. William (Annie)' Murdock of
Huron township and a twin •sister ,
Mrs. Samuel (Alberta) Nesbitt of.
Kincardine. Wiitiam,aCani eon of
Huron townthip is a brother.
In addition to thei4 .farm..operat
ions, the late,Mrs. Wightman •
took an ctive 'interest* in the work
of.the Pine River United Church of
which shevas' a' member and; trea-
' surer, of the'tinited Church Worn-'
en of Pine -'River. She had forni-
erly'been:a.school.teacher after.
•attending. the Lake Shore. School,
Kincardine High School and Strat
ford Teacher's College
The last rites were `conducted
-by her minister. Rev., .Harold
Pillen at the.Linklater Funeral
Home;onDecember 19 with inter-
ment in Kincardine .,cemetery.

lar girl at that particular time,

Accident again took a hand:`

rolled in a. post -graduate course
in English: University teaching
was the objective.
Came the tragic news .that-,'
my , 'brother-in-law (on my
wife's side) had been drowned •
in a, boating accident..}Ie owned
• a weekly newspaper. . .
We hastened"to• the scene, to •
be of what comfort .`w,e could..
And I. pitched in, as ignorant as
Mrs. Murphy's' _ cow, to • help .
;. keep the paper going for .a ;
week or• two,.• until other , ar-
µ rangements-were made_Eleven
Years a.ter, was still: there.

the world of Chaucer and Spen-

Whether it was `raining. or Snow,
ing'• or . blastingly ,}lot:
Wednesday was even •moreso:.
° Complaints; callers, classified
ads piling in, and the inevitable
merchant waltzing in, after the
deadline,, 'with °,a big ad . yoti
simply ,hadn't morn to print.
l?roof-reading away behind.
People• in looking for free pub-
licity. People in just to chat
about 'town affairs, or' their'
grandchildren, And . the •lino-
type operator, dangerous to ;the
•point of ,.being lethal, within 'a
radius ,,of 12 feet of ,his ma-

putting::the sheet to bed.
Thursday ,was decision day.
Too many ads. Can we 'leave

and. District Lions Club Was called
to order, Monday, January 9th at
the Canadian Legion Lull, with•.

During dinner a singsong was
held and the club was favoured
with a solo by Lion Bill Conroe: of
Wingham ,` Deputy District Gover-
nor for this area. The minutes of ,.
the previous meetings -were read
by the secretary and adopted..
Many items of correspondence
were also read. including a Lionel.
Thornton dance 'being held Friday
nightin the High School auditor

club` Curling Bonspiels being held,
