Reportirig at the Ripley nomin-
ationmeeting last week, Bill
/Harris of the.Ripley District High
School is quoted in the Kincard-
ine News as saying that the Ripley
school will never throw in the
sponge like Lucknow, The article
read as follows: .
"Touching on high school matt-,
ers Bill Harris said Ripley would
never throw in the sponge like
•Lucknow and they had .fought the
local school's record out with the
inspector. Mr. Harris said the gov
ernment was backing down on its
expensive vocational schools in
smaller centres as all they -did
was train youngsters to go to the
city at the expense of the smaller
municipalities. There just were
no openings in the smaller centres
Mr. Harris said that the princip-
al was overloaded and every effort
would be made during the next
year to relieve him of some of
his teaching responsibility be-
cause of the ever-growing amount,
of records which had to be kept,"
