50th Anniversary At Their Calgary Home

ebrated their golden wedding with
a. tea at their home for close friends
and relatives. On November §;h a
family dinner was held at the*Pall-
iser Hotel. •
11.1.-4.(Daye.)Andrew is a son of
the late Mr. and Mrs., Isaac Andrew
of Ashfield, After their Marriage
the young couple took up farming
on the Andrew homestead., now the
farm of Wm.' G, Hunter where they
farmed for two years. ' •
The following write-up appeared
in the November 4th Issue of the

It was:"Just like a summer day"
November 1, 1916 in Kincardine,
Ontario, when Elva Frances StankY
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
Stanley, was married in her
parent's living room.
She had chosen.one of the young
farmers in the area for her husband
and at 11 a.m• she became Mrs.
David A Andrew.
Now 50 years later, Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew are celebrating their golden
wedding this weekend with a tea

In 1918, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew
moved to Lucknow Ontario, the
first of many moves. After exper-
ience on the school fair circuit.
With a bee farm, a cream -buying
business; and as a cattle judge, Mr
Andrew became assistant agricult-
ural representative for Huron.

1924, to finish his degree work at
Guelph Agriculture College and •
work as dean of the senior students'
residence. • •
"Grant MacEwan and Jim Cross
were students in the residence at
that time." says Mr. Andrew. '
In 1929 he began week in the che-
mistry department at Guelph school
and in 1930.mcoved to Vermilion,
Alberta, School olAgriculture
farinmanager and in charge of
-the animal husbandry work. In the
winter of 1933 and 1934, he
transferred to Olds School of Agri!.
culture and started the popular
Olds "College Royal" show, similar
to the Vermilion "Royal": The Olds
Royal continued until a year ago. ;

Association in 1942. moving to
Calgary in 1944.
Following his retirement from the
Canadian.Hereford Association,
Mr. Andrew became secretary of
the Canadian Polled Hereford Assoc'
cation while he completed his hist-
ory of the breed.

ever undertook," he said.
Mr. and Mrs.. Andrew have two
• children: Mrs. William Dwyer,
Edmonton., and Mrs. Jacqueline
Butts, Calgary, and three grand-
children. • ••
Mrs. Gordon (Jessie) Kirkland' of
Ashfield and Alfred Andrew of
Orillia are sister and brother of
Dave Andrew.

scholarship in memory of Ralph D.

Mr. Munro. an Auburn merchant
