Tessie Greig speaks To Annual
Banquet Of Lucknow Horticultural
Mrs; Byron "Tessie" Greig of
Lions Head. ; district director -for
District . 8 of the Ontario Horticult-
ural Society,, was guest speaker at
the annual banquet of the. Lucknow
Horticultural Society at the . Luck -
now Legion Hall on Saturday. night.
Mrs, 'Greig. who is Reeve of
Lions Head and was 19 Warden
of Bruce County, took as her sub-
ject "wildflowers"' dealing with
the need for conservation :of wild
flowers throughout;, this area and
all areas,'
Mrs, Greig expressed the thought
that it wouldbe nice in the 1967
centennial year to plant white
trilliums inflower gardens and said
she $ to suggest this' at an •
exe . tive meeting of district 8
shortly; Mrs. Morgan Henderson
thanked, Mrs. Greig and:presented.:
her with a gift.: • •
Mrs Ross. Cumming, president of
the Lucknow Society'.. chaired the
program. , Miss •Betty, Hamilton
'won bulbs in a lucky plate award.

St.. Helens won a prize donated by
William Schmid for having a

had the lucky chair and won bulbs..

ladies who catered to the bangtet
and Mrs. Harold. Cooperresponded.
A sing song was led by Elwin'.
Hall with Mrs.. Gordon Montgom-
ery at the piano. ,Mrs. Montgomery
presidedat the piano on several
occasions during the evening.

omplishments of the Lucknow: Soc
iety throughout the'year.. There
were 108 adult members in the
group, five regular meetings were
.held as well•'as a; garden tour. in -
. Jtine, .a Fall'flower show' and`the
banquet. Members 'attended .a.
horticultural workshop in Guelph •
and as well.:. three members.. were
in Ottawa for the annual conven-
tion, Easter lilies were placed in
district churches and one of the'
.main activities was' the beautifying
piano, 'The Hi -Tones, a. group
of Lucknow, District High . School• • '
young men, favoured' with several
vocal numbers under their. leader
Elwin Hall,. Mrs, Cumming said
that those present were proud of
the Musical talent of the young,
people and .appreciated them tak
ing time:off from .theirstudies to
perform'. • '

said that residents of Lucknow were
very appreciative•of the fine work'
being carried on in the village by
.the HorticulturalSociety, He paid
