DominionGtovernment Will Spend
Two Months on the Tariff
The Government is now beginning
to wonder how it is going to get
through business in time to meet the
llous.e in November, There is a de,
inatimetoseall-Porliaanentedurin
that month, but it. will probably be
near the end. The only Minister who
will leave the country will be lion, Mr.
Oliver. He is going to Britain on im-
migration business, The other Minis-
ters will be at Ottawa, and the work'
of revising the tariff svill be began. A
good deal of preparatory wosk on the
tariff has been clone. The Commission
has the evidenc dewing its tour
last fall. T enee has been con-
densed, clas ified, and indexed. There
will probably be some further, infor-
mation as to the position of Certain
industries taken before the Mang sit-
tings of the Government begin. ,No
matter how well prepared the.Goverie
inept is, when it settles lown to the
work of tariff reyision many difficul-
ties and differences of opinion are
bound to arise. It will take a month
Ott least, and possibly two, of steady
'Council. meetings before the tariff will
have been made. The Government is
wondering where thee will be found
for the conference with Provincial
Premiers, which has been promised,
