has been closely identified with the
town of Wingham for many years. He
was born in Halton county, and early
fitted himself for the work of the teach-
ing profession. After teaching for
some years in Dufferin and Wellington
counties, he was 0hr:wen Principal of
Fergue High School, Later he took
up the study of medicine, and grad-
uated in 1870. He practised for some.
time in Arthur and afterward at
Grand Valleys He took an active in-
terest in the development of the latter
village, having purchased a farm and
had it surveyed into town ions, which
he sold, and on which now stands the
residential section of the village. On
consing to Wingham. iti 1886, he went
somewhat, extensively into the build -

himself solely to his practice, he sold
out to Dr. Redmond about two years
ago. At thegeneral election of 1001.
Dr. Chisholin was chosen to contest
East Huron ^ in the Conservative
interest, and WAS successful. His
course in parliament has been most
marked by the study of the cold stor-
age question, to which he has devote
