The legislature adjourned Saturday
afternoon until May 26. His honor
gave assent to fifteen bills, which have
been passed. A bill to incorporate the
Edmonton Interurban Railway, with
power to build from Edmonton to
several points in the district was killed
in connnittee in view of the strong
opposition put up by the city council
who protested against, the radial enter
ing the city to complete withlnunici-
pal lines The committee requested
the promoters to reach some agree-
ment with the city.
Hon. C. W. Cross attempted to in-
troduce a bill to incorporate the
Rocky Mountain Collieries (Jo, which
the firm of Short, 0ros's & Biggar are
putting thru, but Mr Boyle objected
to the introduction at this late date,
and the bill was withdrawn.
A thousand copies of Cities Act have
been printed and distributed to var-

Prohibition was first enacted ,in
Maine in 1851, • Repealed and license
enacted in 1856, License repealed and
Prohibition re-enactedin 1858. Thus'
after trying Prohibition five years and

How singular it is that the,. voters of
Maine should twice, at periods 26
