TOO MANY FLIES - People who
are making fall improvenientsto their
houses in the shape of painting are
greatly annoyed by the myriads of
_small Ilies in_the_am at the .present
time, Many Persons report that fresh
paint which they have put on has been
practically ruined by the thousands of
little flies that. have been caught in it.
People using white paintbave suffered
.more than others, as their houses pre-
sent a most peculiar appearance, and
some of them look as if they had not
been painted for manyyears, instead
of having just been painted. ' •
IN THE WEST -A, Clintonian,who
is visiting in the west, 'writes as fol-
lows "It would wake up Clinton,
the sleepy. to see a town not quite so
large . as itself and a prairie town at
that with all modern conveniences and
a High rSchool that would put it
to shame. The Assembly room at the
High School is about' the size of our
Pub,ic School, and they were just in-
stalling anew heating 'system while I
was there at a cost of $4600. There are
3 saloons, besides Hotels, and the sal-
oon license costs 880); This Mcensing
