their new home in Detroit. A number

ACCIDENT - One day last week an un-
usual accident happened at the home
of Samuel l'hompson, when his young-
est child of 0 months was in the baby
carriage on. the verandah, by some
means the carriage polled off the plat-
form, the carriage fell over and the
baby was hurt It . was found after-
wards that one of the bones of its leg
was broken, The parents took her to
Seaforth where the bone was set ; she
is now doing well, and it is thought
the little one will soon be alright.

DEATH OF SQUIRE MALLQUGH.
The township of Ashfield lost one of
Its oldest as well as one of its most
highly esteemed residents on Friday
last, in the death of Squire William
Mallough, who was well past the allot-
ted three score yearsand ten. • He
was one of the *pioneers in the 'truest
sense of the word, having lived near
this village ever since his early boy-
hood, He was a map of sterling
tegrity, and uprightness of life, and
no meanness was ever tolerated or en-
courag. ed by him, Although of fairly
rugged frame, he has been going down
for some time, though able to be about
as usual, Be. - was a staunch. Presby-
terian, and equally as stinvich a Liber-
al, and was always a prominent and
active figure at party gatheritagiie His
wife predeceard him some .yea,es, and
a married daughter kept house' for him,
Mr Mallough simply slept away, tieing
found. ,dead in bed. The funeral or

deeds and noble impulses, his name
