Duff's United Church may be under new ownership, but that doesn't mean you can't catch
some holiday tunes there. Al Richardson and Trish Uniac, the owners, alongside Trish's
brother Bill, hosted a musical afternoon on Dec.18 which welcomed local musicians to ply
their trade. Shown performing are Pearl McCallum and `Cinnamon' Jim Lee. (Dennyscottphoto)

When the snow arrived, it
certainly arrived. There should be no
doubt that we will have a white
Christmas this year! I would like to
wish everyone a Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year and a safe
holiday season. Many will be
travelling to see family and we hope
everyone enjoys their time together.
We offer our sympathies to Emily
Cousins and her family on the
passing of her sister Audrey Helwig
of Neustadt. She will be missed by
her family Franklin, Yvonne,
Jennifer and Christine and their
families.
Our condolences to the Haag
family on the passing of Silvia Haag.
She will be missed by her children
Roger and wife Karen on the home
farm, and daughters Conny and
Eveline and their families.
We have been busy
grandparenting this past weekend
while Scott and Alicia had a
weekend getaway. They went to Las
Vegas and had a terrible time getting
to Toronto on Thursday. They made
it safely, thankfully, and then
enjoyed windy and cool weather
while away. They went to see the
Cirque de Soleil show "Ka" and
report it was amazing. They returned
Sunday night in much better
weather!
Grandparenting can be very
exhausting work. Between eating,
snacking, nap times, reading,
playing Barbies and trucks, there did
not seem to be much time for
anything else. Then packing them up
for a trip to New Hamburg for
cousin Connor's birthday party,
yikes! Obviously, young parents
handle parenting better, but it is so
much fun spending time with little
ones, who cares if anything else gets
done!
We hope Ken Shortreed, who is in
a London Hospital, is improving and
will soon be closer to his family.
Ross Bennett is in Clinton Hospital
and we hope he is soon home and
feeling better.
The Walton Hall building had a
Christmas party on the weekend for
another family. It was for Stephen
and Nicole Bernard's family and
they had a nice time and meal on
Saturday!
Jean Bewley will celebrate a
milestone birthday on Dec. 21 and
there is a big party for her in her new
place in Airdrie, Alberta. Jean will
have her 90th birthday and have
family and friends join her for the
day. Congrats Jean from your
Brussels friends!
