Mounsey Fund donates defibrillator to Brussels Legion
A welcome sight
Representatives of the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund were in Brussels on Saturday to donate
a defibrillator to the Brussels Legion. The Fund, which places defibrillators in public buildings
in the name of fallen police officers, firefighters, paramedics and soldiers, placed this unit in
Brussels in the name of Ross F. Whittard, a World War II veteran from Brussels. Whittard was
killed while serving in Italy during the conflict. From left: Legion member Jamie Mitchell, who
first contacted the Fund about placing a unit at the Legion; Patrick Armstrong, founder of the
Fund; Bush Whittard, Ross's brother and a member of the Legion and Jo -Ann McDonald,
Legion President. (Vicky Bremner photo)
helping at the Branch included Judy
Lee, John Lowe, Sandra Josling,
Mabel Glanville, Sharon Robbins
and Dianne Huether.
The Brussels Branch has been
honoured by receiving a defibrillator
provided by the Dave Mounsey
Memorial Fund. Fund founder
Patrick Armstrong presented the unit
to the Branch representatives on
Saturday afternoon.
The gift is presented in memory
and honour of a passed World
War II veteran of Brussels, the late

The Christmas spirit was celebrated
on Tuesday evening with the Cadet
Corp hosting their annual Christmas
dinner for the Cadets and their
family. It was a full house with
nearly 90 people attending the meal
provided by the Support Committee
of the Corp. A nice evening was
enjoyed by all.
The Brussels Legion Branch was
the venue for the funeral for the late
Helen Williamson on Friday
afternoon. It was a smaller affair due
to weather. Our condolences are
expressed to the family. Comrades
McDonald and Comrade Jamie
Mitchell (who made the original
contact with Armstrong with the
request) were on hand to accept the
presentation.
Serviceman Whittard was killed
serving in Italy during World War II.
A plaque honouring his unit and
battalion and his service record and
medals were also presented.
Our thanks to Armstrong and the
Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund for
the generous donation to the
Brussels Branch. There have been
similar donations to other Branches
in Huron County with only two more

The excitement is at a peak.
Imaginations are running wild.
Generosity is seen in many places.
Oh yes, the spirit of Christmas has
arrived.
In churches all month we've
talked about hope, peace, joy and
love, all the important things in life.
Leaving the walls of these buildings
and living those four in the real
world is the test.
It's not easy to bring hope to the
unemployed. It's hard to show peace
when our thoughts are in conflict
with another. Sharing joy is rough
when you are anxious, but showing
and giving love can come in many
forms. Sharing a coffee, offering a
recommendation for a job, praising a
trait by noticing and remarking on a
simple deed and just being present
with the person.
So, with a little thought, hope,
