The responsive prayer was said with sign language as part of the response. The scripture reading was from Exodus 3:1-14, the story of Moses being asked by God to save his family. The choir sang the anthem "Keep Me Safe 'Til the Storm Passes." Rev. Clark's message to the congregation was "Moses Feels the Heat." It is hard to imagine that Moses was an average man just like us. He was a shepherd looking after his father-in-law's sheep. God asks Moses to go and save his family but Moses says he is not worthy, he doesn't know what to say. God reminds Moses that he is safe but his family is not. God asks Moses to be the answer to his family's prayers. Moses is like our ministers of today, they leave their families behind and minister to others. The door closes on the past and a new door opens to the future. God knows Moses' strengths and ours too. God tells Moses that he knows the laws of the land and of the royal courts. We are who we are. We must push through our fears to find ourselves. We risk failure for the good of others. My Father will honour What an honour it is to be a servant of the Lord Jesus! It is an honour that is not confined to any particular condition in outward life. Not only are ministers and missionaries Christ's servants — but also the humblest labourers in His vineyard! Nor is service to Christ confined to direct efforts in spiritual work: the mother in the midst of her family, endeavouring by her spirit and example to train her children aright; the servant in the kitchen, doing her work heartily as to the Lord; the hard working labourer in the field; the attentive mechanic in the shop; the honest clerk in the office — not rendering eye -service as a men-pleasers, but doing their work faithfully and All of these are as truly Christ's servants — as those who are occupied more exclusively in spiritual work! All who serve Jesus faithfully here — will dwell with Him hereafter. All who follow Him on earth in the path of self-denying love and obedience — will share His glory in Heaven. Servant of Christ, called now to suffer reproach and shame — let the assurance of your Saviour cheer you: "Whoever serves Me must follow Me; and where I am — My servant also will be. My Father will honour the one who serves Me!" A Grace Gem Submitted by: Immanuel United Reformed Church, Listowel, ON 519-291-1956 better place because we have taken a risk. When we risk a glimpse of others we get a glimpse of heaven. We discover love. The hymn "What Wondrous Love is This" was sung. The offering was received followed by the response "Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow," the prayer of dedication, the prayers for the people, silent prayers and the singing of the Lord's Prayer. The hymn "I Feel the Winds" was sung followed by the benediction and the response "May God's Sheltering Wings." Everyone was invited for coffee, juice and snacks.
