The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority did some work with the Blyth Scouts and
Wingham Guides on Saturday morning. They began their day planting at the farm of Melanie
Pletch on Nature Centre Road and then moved on to making birdhouses. Scout Leader

Bruce who passed away at Wingham
and District Hospital on Oct. 6.

FEMSS Valedictorian Peel receives numerous awards
F.E. Madill Secondary School
held its annual commencement
ceremony on Friday, Oct. 7 in
Wingham and a number of local
residents were honoured with
awards.
Edison Peel was named the
school's Valedictorian. He also won
the Grade 12 Proficiency — Dr. A.J.
Irwin Scholarship, the MHF4U
Advanced Functions Award, the
SCH4U Chemistry Award, the W.S.
Hall Memorial Scholarship, the
Above and Beyond the Call of Duty
(AB CD) Award, the Governor
General Medal and the Turnberry
Township 125th Anniversary Award.
Candace Nivins won the AMU4M
Music Award and the MacKenzie
Scholarship.
Emma Strome won the AVI4M
Art Award, while Faith Sebastian
won the Wingham Lions Club "We
Serve" Citizenship Award, the
Madill Student Trustee/Senator
Award and the ETS4U Literature
Award.
Emily Meier won the PAF40
Personal and Fitness Activities
Award, alongside Megan Stute who
was also honoured with the award.
Meier also won the Michelle
Andrew Memorial Scholarship
alongside Justin McKague, who also
won the award. Meier also won the
Garniss Family Award, which goes
to a student from the Belgrave area
who has exhibited good school
citizenship and has contributed
positively to the community through
her involvement in community
activities. Stute also won the
Wingham and District Hospital
Auxiliary Award.
Johanna Blake won the B.M. Ross
Award and the Jacor Marketing
Award for Student Equality, while
Jordan Jacklin won the Louise
Winners

Caitlin Scarrow won the
MacNaughton Memorial Award and
the TSJ4C Construction Award for a
female student.
Regan Ryter won the CIBC
Award, while Joel Snell won the
Libro Credit Union Scholarship.
