sunny. There was lots of activity
happening, so favourable weather is
always a plus.
The Sunday breakfast with the
firefighters, as always, was a popular
place to be. Smiling faces, hearty
food, good company and a great
cause makes eating a purposeful joy.
Once again the community knows
that to keep a good thing going,
effort is needed by many to sustain
the effort. Several companies
support the Fire Department's effort,

Cemetery decoration
By Jo -Ann McDonald
It was a very quiet week at the
Brussels Legion Branch. The pipe
band had practice on Thursday
evening and a meeting was held
upstairs for some community
members.
We wish Sandra Josling a fast
recovery, as she has had surgery on
her foot. We hope she is back soon.
Don't forget the Brussels
Cemetery decoration service is this
Sunday. The service begins at 2 p.m.
and is open to all to attend. The
service celebrates the lives of all
who are laid to rest in the Brussels
Cemetery. Those who have passed in
the past year are named in roll call
during the service.

Padre Sandra Cable always has a
wonderful message and music is
provided by the Brussels Legion
Pipe Band. Bring a lawn chair and
cooking, serving and cleaning up
and the public arrives, donates and
enjoys the morning. So once again,
thanks.
The Armstrong Aerodrome and
campground was a busy spot on the
weekend as the Armstrong clan
welcomed flying families to
Brussels. Long-term airplane friends
make this part of their summer fun
and for the rest of us, we get to
watch the planes circle in the clear
blue sky. Very nice.
When people share talent and
service set
enjoy the service and admire the
beautifully kept cemetery and
remember the lives of your loved
ones.

generosity, it's a nice thing to watch.
The quilting group that meets in
Teeswater regularly, hosts members
from Bruce, Grey and Huron
Counties, including Joan Bernard,
Sharon Freeman and Liz Sholdice.
At their last gathering, they
confirmed that some of their quilting
efforts will be included in the 84
quilts that are being given to families
in Fort McMurray who lost their
homes in the wildfire. Nice thought
ladies.
A fun event happened in Trinity
United in Listowel on Saturday.
Religious Relics was the title used as
Auctioneer Horst got folks primed to
bid on old crocks, garden gates, old
glass communion cups, tables,
pulleys, stained glass, boards,
wrenches, cribs and chairs.
Every old thing, oops treasure, you
could imagine was up for sale,
including a birdhouse mounted on an
auger — for squirrel protection
perhaps. So it was a fun time,
wondering what something was and
learning what it could now be.
Another time of seeing through
different eyes.
It was party time in Cranbrook as
the world recognized that Frank
Workman really is 75. Fireworks
marked the occasion as neighbours,
friends and family gathered to
celebrate. Making the party
complete, both sons were home —
Craig from London was the official
firecracker with Peter from
Yellowknife as back up. Good party
Frank.
Kids' Corner is set for July 18,
remind the kids of the fun to come.
